Sony Press Conference - 1 day 2 hrs
Nintendo - 1 day 19 hrs
Microsoft - 1 day 22 hrs
I'm expecting some big news from Sony and Nintendo especially. They're going to have to wow the crowd with their new systems. The Wii is going to have to have a killer lineup. It's also the first time Wii controllers will be on display for the public to try out. Moment of truth!!
For those that don't follow E3 but are gamers (never heard of such a thing), I'll post highlights from the show (or someone else will, I'm sure).

I heard that sony will be revealing redesigned PS3 controllers - is that right? The first ones (boomerangs) looked terrible.

No final word, but Sony would be out of their collective mind if they haven't redesigned it already. I'm betting the PS3 console itself will probably look a little different/smaller. I wasn't a fan of the "SPIDER-MAN" font the thing used.

I'm more interested in what Nintendo are cooking up. As has been said before, the PS3 and 360 are a rehash of their old systems; Nintendo are doing something new completely.
Thanks for the info Foul.

The word is that Sony are really going to be treading water at E3. Nintendo are expected to have the Revolution up and running, all we'll see of the PS3 is the new controllers. I think Sony could really be heading for trouble here, especially if they rush it out for Christmas and screw the thing up.

How 'revolutionary' can it be, though? It's still a console.

Revolution is just a working title, but they have made some highly innovative proposals, particularly with regard to the control system.

Fair enough. Sounds misleading, though.

As I understand it, there will be a working, playable version of the PS3 to be revealed, as well as a new controller.

This article sheds some light on the Wii's innovative qualities.
To be sure, the Wii is definitely a fundamental shift from the normal mode of game interaction. The article suggests swinging the controller in Zelda-style sword fights, using it to fish (like the mini-game in Ocarina of Time), etc. I could picture the controller used in more mundane ways, such as pancake flipping. Could add a whole new level of immersion to "life sim" games, like Animal Crossing or who knows what.
Here's hoping the Wii controller makes a big splash at E3. I predict it will perform admirably or beyond expectations, as Nintendo's staking their entire console business on this controller's functionality.

Exaclty this is the newest thing around and the interactivity ould be a major selling point for Nintendo.

Just saw the Sony conference and gotta say it was totally underwhelming. The audience barely clapped at all. To top it off, the PS3 is going for 499$ in its basic format and 599$ for the premium version. Microsoft and Nintendo are celebrating somewhere, I'm sure.

Know if there's a video online anywhere? I remember last year I watched the whole thing on one of the gaming websites. All I can find at the minute are live feeds which have ended.
Edit: Apparently it will be available pretty soon, so nm.

First the PS3 was beaten to an early release by Xbox 360, now it's more expensive. I think we've seen the end of Sony's dominance.

Wow.... that is totally ridiculous for a console.

I know, apparently the 'Core' package isn't really worth getting anyhow. The only one of the three that tempts me is the Wii though, in spite of the silly name. I'm not terribly excited about getting a more powerful Xbox or Playstation, but Nintendo's effort does appeal. All depends on the games though, it'll need a whole new approach from developers.

So roughly £250 and £300.
Thats an awful price.

Warmark, that's the one I mentioned as being available soon. I was posting about half an hour before it was due to go up.
£250 and £300? Wasn't the PS2 £400 when it came out? I'm betting they'll do the usual thing and not use currency exchange rates when deciding the price.

Nintendo conference soon. I think 9:00AM PDT, 11:00AM EDT? This is their chance to steal some major thunder from Sony, after that fiasco of a press conference.
