Yahoo is cooler. Seriously, I can chat with both yahoo users and MSN users on my yahoo. 
Actually, I bet you guys on MSN can do the same. Anyway, I used to be a MSN girl for many years, but I defected. Too much spam on hotmail.

Yahoo gets on my nerves. I only ever used it for chatting to Turiya, but she has MSN now.
I experimented with Trillian for a while but found it very user unfriendly.

I just recently tried to get myself a Gmail account; but apparantly you can't get one without a mobile phone...?!?!?

First I've heard of that, Drew. When I joined, it was necessary to have a referral/invitation, but not a phone.

You can get on with an invitation; or you can request an account yourself, but they text it to you over your cell.

You don't need to get the invite over your cell phone anymore. Now you just fill out the online form. Go to www.gmail.com and then there's a link on the right hand corner under the logon window.
