anybody want to try experiments to see if they have, (or really are any at all), psychic abilities or tendencies?

I'm inclined to say the General Fantasy/Sci-Fi forum is more appropriate. But that's because I don't believe psychic abilities exist. What experiments do you have in mind?

I won't mind if it needs to be moved...I'm sure you know why I put it here, but would you believe I could seriously define this topic as appropriate for the Loresraat?

and I am open to and fishing for suggestions! there are the obvious card viewing experiments, but I've been looking around after a long absence of interest on my part, and am finding quite alot of new material and ideas since the 70's/80's.

The main thing is conserving experimental consistency and viability. The control here is going to be the most important aspect of any experiment, and integrity in the process is critical.

Seems like a perfectly valid topic to me.

Me, I have no opinion, but I'll play along.

ok, cooool....any ideas for guidelines? procedures? will it depend on the experiment? who do we trust the most to handle the intermediary results and whatnot? I think we need some more questions/answers on the process before we can do anything, and I have to say up front I have realized my ability to structure and guide a thread along is practically nonexistent...we'll need alot of help from everyone on this one I think.

A first step might be to list and define some psychic abilities. And more, define them in a way that can be seen (or not) between us here at the Watch. Maybe telepathy means reading minds. But if it requires close physical proximity, it's of no use to us here. But we also need to know what kinds of information one mind can read from another. How specific?

I'm open to the possibility that such abilities exist, the brain is an amazing thing, and I have a hard time believing that most of it is just skull-filler.

I think it was Coleridge who said "What senses do we lack that we cannot perceive another world all around us."

Technology has given us eyes to see in spectrums never intended for human sight, we know that we are surrounded by magnetic fields, electrical fields, etc. Who knows what else there may be?

If you all come up with some type of experiment, I'll play along.

I tried but I don't know to become a psychic, so there is no taking over the world just yet.
Telepathy means you can read minds but also communicate through the mind.
Telekinesis(think that is how it is spelt) you can move objects with your mind.
Pyrokinesis(Spelt I think) is being able to set things of fire with your mind.
The other powers I have heard but don't know the names are one where you can touch objects and see into the past, usually clips of who or what had the objects or what was going on in the room at the time. Also heard some psychics can do this without objects. One power where you can see into present day, meaning that you can see anything happening at present time.
All those who love Psycho Mantis would know that Mind Control is considered a power and also making illusions with the mind.

So how to begin? Want me to think of a number between 1 and 1,000,000? I could do a different number every hour, on the hour. Everyone write down what they think I'm thinking of each hour, and we'll see if anyone got it right.

But if any kind of telepathy exists, maybe it's not that broad. Maybe I need to direct my numbers at someone in particular. That's easy enough when the other person is in the same room. But if, in the absence of someone to actually look, and the fact that I don't even know exactly which direction to face, knowledge of someone is needed, I'd possibly need more information about the person?

Still, maybe the first idea is a good place to start. If anyone's up for it, let me know, and we'll figure out a day to do it.

I don't really believe in any physical powers/ghosts, but that is partially due to the fact that I am yet to see any personal evidence contraditcting my thoughts.

I looked around, and considering the hectic undertaking we are contemplating, simpler seems better.....trying to coordinate a viable process here seems daunting to say the least, in that if we don't aproach it with a minimal of dedication, and attention to conformity, we may as well shoot dice and try to prove it. heh

the other reason I chose that is because there are a plethora of sites out there that have free flash card generators, that include participation of both the "sender" and "reciever", including tracking and scores. I envisioned using the chatbane as a meeting place, with two participants at a time interacting while others can play quietly and unobtrusively by themselves until it is their scheduled turn. follow me so far? how simple is good here, to start with?

I've also considered you may provide a unique perspective and control to this Avatar with your amazing text messaging mental powers.....

and by all means I am open to suggestions of any kind. throw an idea out and lets make it into something, eh?
