Good point, Brinn. It`d be very interesting to see a count of how many premature deaths that has been caused by the US in the world, say in the last ten years.

I`m sorry for the blasphemy, Earthfriend. I`ll go into the woods now, and live as a hermit for several years until I have been cleansed of this sun. :)

But LotR can be just a biiiit dull at times.

Isn`t it a bacteria that causes leprosy, or Hansen`s disease? I read about this doctor (Hansen) who discovered that bacteria.

Brinn, I find your choice of words just a bit disturbing. Calling the massacre of thousands of people an "opportunity lost" just sounds wrong in my ears. It seems that what I`m concerned about is the loss of civilian life, whereas your concern is that Saddam could have been removed much ea...

Well put, Ryzel! War rhetoric is indeed out of fashion in our part of the world..we wouldn`t celebrate people returning from wars. We don`t even have military parades here, and nobody admires the Norwegian special troops who were sent to Afghanistan.

Murrin..the Saudis are NOT happy with their regime. Come on..would you be happy living in poverty, while the royal familt took all the money coming from the oil. There is lot of unrest in Saudi-Arabia..the princes probably make sure to have a few million dollars in cash in their safes in case they h...

About that mass grave of dead Shi`ites....that uprising happened immidiately after the Gulf War. The Americans encouraged the Shi`ites to stand up against Saddam, but then left them on their own. Consequently, the Shi`ites were slaughtered. Yes, the country was in economic ruin before the war, partl...

The Wheel of Time is good, even almost great. It certainly is much more exciting then the Lord of the Rings! But it`s maybe a bit too complex..there`s so many parallel stories at one time.

And TC seeks to get rid of responsibility..not knowing how to use the white gold is a tremendous relief for him, because then he can`t be blamed when the Land is destroyed. "I can`t use this damn thing, so it`s not my fault," that`s the way he thinks. And if Corimini had accepted the ring,...

Maybe LF is fundamentally evil, like the Illearth Stone.. I don`t think it`s possible to use the Illearth Stone for something good because of things that are said later in the book (I can`t use that spoiler thingy, so I won`t get into those now :) ).

Isn`t there a cure for leprosy now? I thought I read something about it in an encyclopedia..in that case, it wouldn`t be so bad to get leprosy, when I would get well afterwards.

That indomnitable spirit of the leprous lady reminds me of Mhoram..he certainly doesn`t give up easily. But there are other things that doesnt match. Anyway, maybe it points to Elena abandoning Mhoram, Troy and the Warward to go on a quest of her own. Or maybe it just shows how poorly Covenant commu...

Yeah, the visuals were stunning. I don`t understand why everyone is so disappointed in the sequel..maybe that`s because I never thought the first movie was that great. Oh well.
