It’s not a great story, but it’s in a medium that King does not normally write in, so it’s understandable that he doesn’t write great high fantasy fairy tales. Nevertheless I like it, it’s a fun little read. And I like it when King takes diversions from his normal horror book even if it doesn’t work...

You don’t have a first Edition of Runes?bloodguard wrote:i just bought 1 for £6 is that worth it my only ever `1st edition
Anyway, yea it’s worth it. Books are also investments. If you hold onto that book for 10 years you’ll be able to sell it for a lot more. 1st editions are always sought after.

Much more good than bad, certainly. The only ones I'll give you there are Shawshank and Stand By Me . I'm a terrible purist, and the more they change the book, the less I like it. (Haven't seen Storm or Creepshow .) IT wasn't bad as a movie either. (OK, niether was The Shining .) --A lol, fair enou...

too many directors cut the storyline and leave in the gore. I like the tv movies more in most cases. Storm of the Century was great. more creepiness and less blood. I'm with you on this one. This is why I still think Halloween was one of the scariests movies ever. It was because there was hardly an...

I don't know if it's by Hill House, but I have seen what seem to be limited editions on the shelves in bookshops. It comes in a box and I think it might be signed or something... There was one done by Waterstones a UK book chain of 1,000 copies. It was in a black slipcase and was the UK cover. I go...

I would say even. Too bad there isn’t an option for that. I’m an avid reader of both authors and have been since I was a kid. But they write in different mediums. Stephen King is one of the best horror writers out there. His Dark tower series just shows his diversity like Donaldson does with his mys...

Did Hill House Publishing ever do a Runes Limited Edition?
I've searched and found that Hill House Publishing was supposed to do a Limited Edition of the Runes of The Earth. There was a link and supposedly some info. Well, now it’s a year later there is no reference of SRD on the Hill House site, as the link just goes to the main page. Also in the posts I n...

I’ll admit I started reading SRD with the Covenant series and was awaiting new books like The White Gold Wielder and noticed that they were displayed in the front of bookstores. Mordant Need seemed to follow this same example; books were displayed in the front of the store. I thought they were prett...

Actually I’m a hundred percent the opposite. I actually sat in shock the whole way through The Real Story. I couldn’t believe someone could write something so dark and so deranged. For the record I was disturbed the first time I read Lena’s rape the first time I read it as a kid around 1980, and whe...

IMDb.com is really good about showing anything that has been announced, and no search results for Thomas Covenant bring up anything. Searches for John Orloff show he’s in pre-production for a movie called Soul of the Age. And here is what’s on Mark Gordon’s palate for the next couple of years. Holy ...

- The Andromeda Strain - great movie that could be done even better now. And with Michael Crichton as the author, funding would not be an issue. imdb.com/title/tt0424600/ Ridley Scott is producing a tv mini-series of this. I doubt this is what you wanted to hear, as one would prefer a theatrical re...

Re: First Posting/Impossible to Expect A Good Covenant Movie
Do any of you really believe that a major film studio would have a film where the primary "hero" rapes a woman? And, that is just the tip of the iceburg, in terms of the less than admirable things that are laid at Covenant's door. I agree 100%. I do believe it will be a hard sell. These n...

Silly, silly person! Don't you understand that Books and movies are seperate mediums. I hate it when they try and cross the two. Interesting that you state that you understand that novels and films are two separate mediums… from the posts that I have seen by you I could infer that you refuse to ack...

I'd rather they didn't make a movie of the series... after the way Peter Jackson (a B-movie low-life if I've ever seen one) raped the LoTR trilogy, I'd hate to see what could happen to SRD's masterpieces. If they can get anything remotely close to what Peter Jackson did to the LOTR novels, then I’l...

I agree and disagree with Gibboniam. If you go into a movie expecting an exact replica of the book, then it will fail miserably. But if you take the movie, as it’s own entity then you can appreciate it for what it is, an adaptation of a book. I think the LOTR’s is a good example. Parts were removed ...
