I can't understand people who think SRD would make up the term "Fire-Lion" for just regular old lava flows. Like the people of the Land were clueless bumpkins who had never seen molten rock before and would anthropomorphize it like crazy. Like I said, if that were true then someone should...

Another thought - that I think may be a bit too obvious. "But the Power which upholds me has stood since the creation of Time. Therefore when Kevin dared me to unleash the forces that would strike the Land and all its accursed creations into dust, I took the dare. . . Together we stood in Kiril...

A lion drawn on March 29th? March is IN like a lion, out like a lamb.

But no, actually, I like the doodle, thanks for sharing.

I came up with a haunting image as I read this - Kevin and Foul fight on the watch. Who knows what array of bolts, fireballs, and energy blasts careen off each other? Kevin lacks full knowledge of Foul as an immortal entity, so he manipulates Foul towards the edge of a cliff and tackles Foul, hoping...

Leguin's books. Right now I've been reading some of the Hainish cycle. Like Fist said, Earthsea. I think that despite being very hilarious, offensive and strange, Dying Earth manages to convey a sense of beauty to its world. That may be because the first of the three volumes is a bit more serious. A...

I like Anvil of the Stars, and also read and liked The Forge of God. Haven't read anything else, but I assume he's good in general.

Av's link seems to have worked. Initially I was going to come on here and screenshot the post, but hey, now the post is here. I actually had typed responses to (I think) Cail and Hashi, too. But I don't feel like I have the time today to re-re. Zar was probably annoyed that I said I disliked his pos...

Seriously - I copied and pasted my post after it got borked again. Perhaps a problem with quote tags. I'll try and get it posted tomorrow night. It's probably me because I know you guys can post, but I think every post I make gets eaten before it gets out. At least this one is saved. EDIT- I kept tr...

Is TJE really attuned to objective truth as defined by gods of the Tusks, or is it rather defined by some higher, "the one god?" What the Survivor called The Absolute? If so, I think it undermines your argument. I agree that the gods don't have a monopoly on truth--as revealed in this boo...

Because my longer post got borked, I'll say: Is there any evidence that they are willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt? Or, in this "it isn't black or white world," is Trump and his supporters unequivocally evil in their eyes? I really don't see Trump supporters as evil. Even thou...

Oh. Perhaps you are right - I don't remember well enough myself. A quick question regarding events in Momemn (after the conclusion of ch 3, pgs 80-109 for me): So Esmi missed with the chorae but the cishuarim died to arrows. It's not like guys weren't firing arrows at him before. Did the chorae tear...

Interesting first question...I don't remember anything ever actually being said about Kelhus dreaming Seswatha...although of course he should be... As for the second, IIRC, it was at the beginning of TJE, when he dreams of Seswatha stubbing his toe or something. :D --A I figure not necessarily. May...

RE Mimara seeing herself as good, and whether the judging eye exists...this may sound like terrible reasoning, but the two biggest reasons I have faith that the judging eye is special and really is some important thing, even if it is actually not inviolably accurate or correct, is: -Bakker titled a ...

Gardens of the Moon . Somebody talk some sense into me... :D --A I see you finished this reread. Knowing you as a voracious reader, you'll probably be reading it again in 6 months or a year. Consider reading it in reverse order by chapter the next time you pick it up. I don't know if that will reve...

It is also suspicious that these State Department people have trouble sending faxes, even secure faxes. Fax technology is decades old at this point--it is about as trivial as driving a car (presuming you have been driving a car for more than 5 years). Besides, who uses phone lines for sending faxes...

That is entirely probable given that I am not a lawyer. Not criticizing, I am not a lawyer either, and please note I've provided what may be more relevant (unsure). Don't forget, there's at least one email where Hillary is explicitly telling people how to remove the classification heading before em...

BTW I think the laws hashi quoted could maybe be argued inapplicable to the issue at hand (I feel like every key verb could be deflected as not quite what clinton did, but it's a tedious argument), but I don't think this one would be: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/793 from: www.dailykos...

If I was more educated on technology I might be able to understand this, but why is it proving difficult to trace emails sent to clinton's server? I mean, those sent from government accounts? I know there are countless government agencies and such, but it feels like our government should at least be...

I don't mind that the FBI has found more to investigate regarding the emails, but I'm aggravated that it's happening right now. As someone who'll almost certainly vote Clinton over Trump and really really really doesn't want Trump to win, I'd rather have seen Clinton massively hemorrhage support for...
