That second goal from Sweden was unbelievable. Considering how well England's back four have played recently it makes it even worse to have to witness such a sorry, lame (expletives continue for some time) piece of defending that you'd be hard pushed to excuse at Sunday League level. Admittedly the ...

(1) Political - George W. Bush. He seems like a man who I could destroy at Scrabble. (2) Sports - Paul Gascoigne (ex-England footballer). For much the same reason as (1) (3) Music - Les Claypool of Primus. An incredible bassist who apparently enjoys wine and fishing. I doubt he'd be too easy to play...

I think you're in with a shout Cail. The US team's not that bad, and Ghana are pretty beatable on their day. This year alone, they've been beaten by Tunisia, Nigeria, Togo and even Zimbabwe. If Italy can beat the Czech Republic and the US can do a Zimbabwe, you'll be through to the next round where ...

The USA-Italy match was very gripping indeed. Great stuff.

Had to feel sorry for Australia tonight, I fear it was my anti-football team curse at work again. Just before the game started I was singing their praises.

I reckon I could turn this to good use... hey, I think Germany and Ecuador are great.

The only thing acid ever "showed" me was that I was capable of staring at inanimate objects (flint walls, glass paperweights and such) for 6 hours straight while believing that no more than 10 minutes had passed. Marijuana showed me I could spend 6 hours straight sitting on my arse doing n...

Anyone else fancy predicting a winner yet? At the risk of angering my fellow Englishmen, I think the Czech Republic look pretty tasty. © Mr. Fishfinger's anti-football team curse (2006) Oh, and I don't think England were that bad against Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago were under the cosh ...

Re: Roger and White Gold

Would it really be *that* hard to go buy some white gold for Lord Foul? Ssshhhh! If you're not careful all of the characters will fall through a dirty great big hole in the logic of the story. Nice post blackholearmy - I think it's a fair question at any rate, and I'm bummed I never asked it before...

That's right. No more looking for logic in the bible, you poor misguided man. Planets being made in a week, people being made out of dust and living for the best part of a millenia, "gospels" that were written 60 years after the death of Christ (over 30 of which were deemed not worthy of i...

Draught Guinness in cans or bottles I can take or leave, but good old fashioned non-draught Guinness in a bottle is fine stuff. Mackeson , Murphy's, Beamish - they all have their qualities but New Quay steam stout is something I shall never forget. Along with New Quay steam beer of any description. ...

On nights when there's no moon in the sky, get someone with a decent telescope to show you Jupiter, Saturn and a few galaxies and nebulae.

On nights when there is a moon in the sky, get someone with a decent telescope to let you have a good look at it.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. Providing you find mutants with seven digits on each hand and hugely protruding Adam's apples to be sexually attractive, everything will be just fine.
