but one thing we do know...he was able to block the attempts at the Arch of time by Lord Foul after he had given the ring freely to Lord Foul...to me that means TC was the tool ..not the ring, Had TC said...I give myself to you freely the whole thing may have been different,... Hell, if Foul had go...

Isn't Mhoram's statement actually, "You are the white gold", not "You are the wild magic"? Not everyone who gets the white gold can use it instantly. Linden Avery doesn't. (and I'm not recalling Hile Troy having and using it either, but maybe that one slipped past my synapses.) ...

That's easy, he'd choose to save them both.

I always assumed that the rituals that fed the Sunbane/performed Earthpower-esque effects worked by giving some power, in the form of blood, to the Sunbane. The Sunbane then took that power into itself and the Graveler/Eh-Brand was able to utilize part of that power. I need an example: Let's say tha...

Was Trell in danger of breaking the Arch? I know he was risking another RoD and the destruction of Revelstone. I'm away from my books, should've brought them to college with me... Anyway, it seems like if someone prophesied/foresaw the arrival of a Martian as a harbinger of a great struggle for the ...

Never tried a boilermaker, but it sounds wicked. I have, however, downed some B-52's without knowing what the heck they were. I found out later when I couldn't stand up. :) Hey, that's a good idea for a new thread, somebody. Names of drinks you can make with springwine, diamondraught, vitrim, and p...

I thought she might have been Roger's accomplice as well, or even the "real" world representation of the croyel, but I ended up dismissing those. Roger treats her pretty badly (hit her twice with the gun) and she is practically begging Linden to go get help. She seems truly unaware of the...

I don't know about the rest of the post, but I seem to recall Joan getting disintegrated by a bolt of lightning in the Real World, so if there's a candidate for most obviously dead, I think it would be her.[/quote]

Thomas Covenant walks into a bar accompanied by a one armed trucker. The pair watch a girl sing with an older gentleman who seems quite smitten with the singer. Then the sheriff shows up and makes Covenant leave.

Regarding the end of WGW, Foul's first blast of Wild Magic was directed at and killed Covenant. After the initial blast he lets loose on the Arch, but Covenant as Timewarden is able to absorb/deflect/whatever those blasts, something a living/envenomed Covenant would have been unable to do. Covenant ...

I, for one, was satisfied with the ending of The Dark Tower. Maybe it wasn't as good as TCOTC, but not much is and it's three years until the next book comes out... I also like the "Roger is Linden w/o Covenant's influence" angle. Maybe Roger will come, or already has come, to resent Linde...

Small note, while Covenant thinks that Suzy Thurston calls him "Berek" he calls her and finds out she had thought he was her first manager, "Berret" (Or Barrett, I don't have my books with me). But my favorite bit character would have to be the woman how protects Covenant at Soar...

No, you're right on both counts and they're both still standing. The castle in the entryway feels like Lost Deep, but the race tracks in his room (with all their loops and curves and the Mobius loop aspect) seem like a reference to the Arch of Time maybe? I dunno, but that's what I suspect. It may ...

Welcome to the Watch! Just to clarify - Roger does indeed instruct Linden to cut off her right hand. Thanks for the welcome, But, I'm afraid you're wrong, check your book... In the US Paperback edition, on page 73: "I see you brought your bag." He (Roger) nodded at the weight which anchor...

Re: Runes, Prologue, Ch. 5: The Cost of Love and Despair

Well, this is my first post here, so please don't judge me too harshly... I only have a few things to add. Firstly, Syl, you're dissection was excellent, and without my book at hand I can't be sure, but I think you missed one detail that I found important... Roger...offers to trade Jeremiah for Lind...
