TheWormoftheWorld'sEnd wrote: Of course we all feel guilt. But Covenant's is a religious-like conscience in which he - basically - compares himself to Satan. He acts like an adult who had a super-religious parent as a child who always scared him with the dire threat of Hell. Perhaps he did have suc...

I don't have a problem with the hints at future adventures that we'll never hear about. Like the Acolyte. Or moksha being left out there. Or Kevin's Wards 3-6. There have to be some loose ends, and most of the ones in the epilogue did not feel to me like unresolved loose ends from the narrative (tho...

Maybe the Worm has become more quiescent now that It has devoured so many stars and drank the Blood of the Earth. Perhaps doing all that put It back on the downswing which made It more manageable thus allowing the Elohim to sing It back to sleep. I really don't know, the text doesn't give enough clu...

It's almost like Foul has been trapped inside a Durance. As if TC as the white gold now serves as a mortal interdict against Despite in the Land. I think part of the point of each answer/response to Despite is that it can never be completely done away with. There is no permanent solution, except acc...

If what you say is true, then that might potentially mean that She/Creator has been trapped as a bane this whole time...? That twisted by despite and thus deprived of Her essential nature, her name is less invoking than is Her reawakening to the reality of Her own goddesshood? Hell, you might be on ...

“ Hurtloam . The word sent conflicted squalls through Covenant in spite of his near-prostration and his complex pains. Hurtloam would heal his wounds; but it might also cure his leprosy. It had done so before. It could restore his crippled health-sense. It could make him potent and capable in ways ...

Names in TLD

One aspect to this story that I loved is all the new names we got along the way. Let’s see… Lots of new Giantish names. Wiver Setrock, Squallish Blustergale, Keenreef, Etch Furledsail, Bluff Stoutgirth, Baf Scatterwit. I especially liked getting the names Spume Frothbreeze and Far Horizoneyes when t...

I think first we should separate 'enduring' from 'permanent'. They are not the same thing, and I bet SRD knew this when he envisioned the end of the Last Chronicles and the answer to this question. I don't really know the answer, but will venture one anyway. I think it has to do with integration. Fo...

TLD - A Reader's Experience

Well, the story is complete. I am feeling many things in the wake of completing it: nostalgia, sadness, satisfaction, exuberance, confusion, disappointment, amazement…the list goes on. But I want to share my experience while I was immersed in the reading itself. Last April I began experiencing a rel...

Very much like how Infelice said that Desecration enabled the renewal of the Land and the Earth, I think that Jeremiah's fractured selves resultant from being possessed were what enabled him to put moksha away and regain control of himself. So yeah, I agree that his experience with being possessed b...

15 years, eh...makes my 9 seem paltry by comparison. Myself, I had a number of rapturous moments in this book, most of which were reactions to the language Donaldson used to tell the tale. I will need to read again for specific examples, but I believe he did a great job with the diction in this book...

Yep, cooperation is surely a theme throughout this whole book. TheWormoftheWorld'sEnd wrote: "The Pure One" is not one person but two. Huh, that's very interesting. I had never thought of it that way, but I believe you have something there. Neither Foamfollower nor Covenant ever accepted t...

I don't know that I would say the Staff was damaged. I think it more reflected the damage done to Linden, or to her heart and emotions. Even with the blackness, it continued to express Law at every turn, was used for physical healing and percipience restoration numerous times. It certainly was alter...

She could have easily been Diassomer Mininderain, and we would've named it excellent foreshadowing from Sunder's song in TWL. Agreed. I wish the GI was still active ...

I find that I am satisfied on many levels, and disappointed on a couple. Mainly, I am trying to deal with the story as SRD wrote it and how I wished it would have been. In the end, it is his story, and so I have to find a way to be content with what he has done. A couple things I was quite disappoin...

In fact, the more I think of it the more I think that the Staff may somehow purge the blackness turning it all white. At the end of WGW, TC had the venom burned out of him by Foul blasting him with wild magic. I can see some possible symmetry with Linden in this case, where somehow Linden has the bl...

I think the wording here alludes to what it might mean. "to bear what must be borne" could easily be a hint to Roger, the fruit of TC and Joan's loins. Dealing with Roger is not going to be easy no matter what path is taken, so it is a huge burden. I mean, TC did kill Joan, and frankly I d...
