I read it that way too. Kastenessen was the Durance much like I understood the Elohim that turned into the Colossus. They were the "battery" that powered the construct (durance and colossus) that held them. (I also like where SRD is going with the whole Elohim fear certain constructs idea...

Christian Bale (loved him in Batman Begins)? Thoughts? I think GO's past it, whereas someone like Christian Bale is perfect. Check out his performance in The Machinist . If you want to see gaunt, you've got it right there. I don't have a pre-conceived notion of what Bale is yet... With an actor lik...

I got about halfway through Stone of Farewell before I found the book grinding to a halt. TW is excrutiatingly slow at pushing the story forwards, though his character development is brilliant.

While we are on Once were warriors, how about Julian Arahanga as a bloodguard?

He also played Apoc in Matrix

I can't find a pic that does him justice but he looks like a young Temuera Morrison, and is wiry.

The problem is that I was perfectly content with the way the series ended for the last 20-odd years. No, I wasn't thrilled with the way WGW ended, but it made sense within the context of the story. Given my feelings towards Runes, I don't have a whole lot of hope for the next three books. I hope I'...

I think the book was too slow to get going. It took a long time (probably half the book) before the story started to propel forward, and I found myself doing what I do in David Gemmells books... Wondering how the hell he was going to finish what he's started in the few pages that remained. Having sa...

Think they're using the term [sleepless one] as an insult. Like when they call them Bloodguard. Geez, I am so dense. I never thought about that. While reading Runes I simply assumed that the Ramen in the First Chrons referred to the Haruhcai as the sleepless ones. I never verified it--still haven't...

To me it's a different kind of sight altogether. Linden is a physician and her sight is manifested as health-sense. She can also project her consciousness into others and control them. No Haruchai can do that. it's almost like Lindens is more focused. Such as when she senses a raver she recoils fro...

I have to concur with Wayfriend. His post was more engaging than most of The Runes . What drew me to Donaldson all those years ago (i think it was 17 years ago that I read the first book), was that the language was so intricate, and interweaved and the story so godamn compelling that you felt like y...

i was 13 when I first read them. Took me ages and a lot of the story was lost on me through the inability to understand a lot of the writer's style not to mention the complexity of the language used. A friend of mine, who is 6 years older had all 6 of the books and he was the one that got me started...

Murrin. Nicely put. I concur, I saw the word "first" and immediately thought... no it isn't. That SRD refers to the time when Findail addressed Vain upon joining the company as the "since" makes complete sense. cheers :)

Findail talks to Vain for firs time. What???

Guys, nearing the end of 2nd chrons, and I've just read something that didn't sit to well. Findail. He Did not look at Covenant or Linden, ignored Sunder's bunched and single-minded grief. Instead he addressed Vain for the first time since the appointed had joined the company For the first time? Sur...

I've always thought that a few of Zeppelins tracks lended themselves to fantasy books. Of course they are inextricably linked to Tolkien e.g Ramble On: I ain't tellin' no lie. Mine's a tale that can't be told, My freedom I hold dear; How years ago in days of old When magic filled the air, T'was in t...

if you want to listen to my advice i would say don’t get Hero in the Shadows first because it is the third book of the Waylander series here’s an order I would read them: Waylander Waylander II Hero In the Shadows Legend First Chronicles of Druss The Legend Legend of Deathwalker The King Beyond the...
