Disappointed

I first read Lord Foul's Bane in 1985 (I think) as a senior in high school and have continued to read and reread SRD's books, including the Gap series through the years. However, there are WAY too many convenient coincidences in TLD- too many unanswered questions- too many times I felt that I have r...

Weird fact

I am 43 years old and on active duty in the U.S.Army and I have never been to a strip club.

There ya go.

BTW: I really enjoyed the 'nutria huntress' photo. Quite an unusual choice of garb for hunting. The white rubber boots really round out the ensemble.

The only time I mention Tolkien and Donaldson is to talk about how incorrect most people's comparisons of the two are. I disagree. Perhaps the basis of my comparison is not explained completely. Professor Tolkien was just that- a scholar. His works had long history, different races with their own l...

Donaldson on Tolkien

I was describing SRDs books to a friend over the weekend and I invariably end up making a comparison to Tolkien. I do this mostly because I feel the popularity of Tolkien's work will help make a connection to someone unfamiliar with Donaldson's books. So I am wondering if any of you do this, AND if ...

R.A.Salvatore

Last year I picked up my first R.A. Salvatore book and devoured in a very short time. Actually, it was a single book that encompassed the Dark Elf Trilogy, which are Homeland, Exile and Sojourn. The dark elf is Drizzt Do'Urden in case you, like me only recognize his name from gaming. Considering tha...

Re: SRD e-BOOKS?

Hi all I'm new to this forum, but not new to The Land. I have 1 burning question so far. Is 'Against All Thing's Ending' available as an e-BOOK. If so where is the best place to purchase it in Australia? 8O If you have a Kindle, every Kindle book in the amazon library is available from the Kindle i...

The Forestal Song, especially the final verse sung by the Forrestal himself: "But ax and fire leave me dead, I know the hate of hands grown bold. Depart to save your heartsap's red, My hate knows neither rest nor weal." It still gives me chills! Also this one: "Nekrimah! Vain save me!...

My username

TM5000 is my username on every forum I am a member of (except the secret pervy ones of course). My initials are TM and I added 5000 to make it sound futuristic I think. A little bit like Powerman5000. It was a move I made years ago when I had different usernames related to each board I was on. It go...

Roynish

The Kindle comes with the Oxford Dictionary of English and The New Oxford American Dictionary and neither contain the word roynish. (it is even underlined now with the suggested replacement of brownish)

Yes, I am in South Korea for about 6 more weeks.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Picked up Lord Foul's Bane in 1985...

I am not much of a forum poster but I like this site quite a bit. Like the title of this message says, I have been a fan of SRD for a long time but have never actually met anyone who has read him! I have just read Against All Things Ending on my Kindle and await the final installment of the series w...
