Whew, powerful stuff that. "Your master knows what I can do to him." Already he is resolved to do what must be done. Covenant is no longer an "Unbeliever" He's ready to accept what he must. Excellent point, and thus the need to re-title this sequel "The Second Chronicles of...

Loaning TCTC

Last night I loaned my copy of the 1st Chronicles to one of my best friends. He's never read anything by SRD before, but he is a fan of Tolkien and others. My only other experience with loaning these books is when my wife read (at my insistence) LFB. She hated it, and refused to read any further. So...

Every week or so I come back to this thread and re-read Danlo's awesome summation - gotta have my "fix" to hold me over. Just noticed this line today (how could I miss it?) The Sheriff doesn't appear to be there and she is overwrought thinking about how these events could futher traumatize...

Yes, but not necessarily post TC.

While it is true that Berek placed the Guardian at the One Tree, I'm not certain that he was Haruchai. My memory may not be correct. I recall that Brinn told of the Legend of ak-Haru Kenaustin Ardenol, but did he actually say that he was Haruchai? If so, I find it unlikely that the Haruchai would've...

But then a leap of intuition crossed her mind. Speaking before she could question herself, she said, "That old man told me to 'Be true.'" His reaction startled her. Surprise and fear flared in his eyes. His shoulders winced; his jaw dropped. Then abruptly he had closed the door behind him...

All of what you have said is true, But think about it; she is the best bad guy in the books so far. Mainly because she had so much power over them and that she was legally going by the rules. She's a much better bad guy than Voldemort. He's just the typical loser bad guy. I think that Umbridge was ...

Does anyone think there will be another Star Trek movie? Since

there certainly seems to be an opportunity for another movie.

Hile Troy, whatever we may think of his relative abilities is precisely what SRD intended him to be. We may quarrel with the adeptness with which his character was formed, however he served his purpose well. I ask you. Would Quaan have totally freaked out once he got a look at how large Foul’s army...

Re: The Final Chronicles of Thomas Covenant

What's this? What's this? I haven't heard anything about this. Who - where do you get this information? Intrigued. Hmmmm - Lord Luof - L-u-o-f spelled backwards is F-o-u-l HOLY CRAP! It's him! It's him! We've been infiltrated! Where's Covenant? Call the Haruchai! Call Ghostbusters! ** Just having a...

There's a saying that goes something like this: No plan survives the first moments of battle.

HT made some huge mistakes, and that cost him and the Land. I agree with everything that's been said, on this and other threads. HT was not the great strategist that he was made out to be.

personally i dont think theres anything unusual about kevin's bandage. in the middle of a war its to be expected. i think your all delving far too deep into something that really doesn't have a hidden meaning. :P That is entirely possible, and if we asked SRD he might say the same thing. It's still...

Remember the Trulane character in TOS? The child-like god that holds members of the Enterprise hostage on a barren planet, only to be punished by his parents at the end? Was he a Q?

I second (or third) the above Romeo - come back with a good write-up of SRD's reading, and you'll be a hero (just like Danlo in the "thread that sets SRD fandom on fire" thread.)

The first time I read this chapter I thought "who's Linden? Where's Covenant?" Now when I re-read this I realize that using Berenford to introduce Covenant to the reader is a stroke of genius. It's our first clue that this will be The Chronicles of Linden Avery as well as the 2nd Chronicle...

I recently bought the SFBC hard cover editions - they're great except for the really funky covers (one of which shows Covenant with 4 fingers and a thumb on his right hand.) We've discussed this before on another thread, I'll bump it for you if you can't find it.
