Anyway, why is it an Excel file? If it's just definitions of words, couldn't it just be a simple word document or text file? Because those would be a lot smaller, and lot easier to read on a website. At least I would think.-jay Well, I'll admit I'm not a big techie. However, I like the way the Exce...

Thanks for all the responses! I'll spend a couple weeks fixing up the file and adding some final words, then offer it to the site owner(s).

my Donaldson lexicon -- for this site?

This past year I reread the first Covenant trilogy before reading "Runes." While I read, I kept a long list of the unusual vocabulary words that Donaldson uses. I've spent many hours putting together an Excel document with these words and their corresponding defintions. It'll probably be a...

Some notes from Donaldson's reading

Dedicated fan that I am, I went to see Donaldson at both his appearances in the Seattle area for his book tour. His Q&A sessions were very interesting, so I thought I’d write down some of the info he gave, paraphrasing his words. Now, I relied on memory for this stuff, so don't take it as gospel...

Re: Donaldson in Seattle Oct 18, + my review of RUNES

Just got back from the UW Bookstore event in Seattle with Donaldson. It was great. About 40-50 people there. Donaldson did a fine reading and gave some very extensive and interesting answers in the Q&A time. If you’re in Seattle and didn’t make it to this one, come out to the Lake Forest Park ev...

I saw your warning of some mild spoilers so i stopped reading. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate it? Rate the book? I'd give it an 8/10. It's not my favorite of the Covenant books, but it's obviously a platform piece from which Donaldson is launching a very big story arc. That said, the 90-page...

Folks, if you really want to affect this issue of wrongfully-sold ARCs, you need to start a campaign for publishers to get their own houses in order. As someone who has worked in both the new and used book business for several years, I can tell you that the people who sell complimentary copies of bo...

Along this line... Have there been any other SRD audiobooks at all, regardless of who does the reading? I haven't seen any besides WHITE GOLD WIELDER.

Are you serious? Donaldson didn't care for Sweet's work?

Which leads to this question: would it be legal to borrow it, or is it a "employees onlyl" deal? I could read it now, no harm done, but if there's a penal code 400395B that causes a flock of publishers to smack me down, then I won't touch this thing. So should I go for it and give this th...

yellow gold ring covers......bitch.....moan......complain...... :x I guess white gold just wasn't visually impressive... Seriously though: as a bookseller myself, one thing that bothers me is that these covers too closely resemble one of the more successful self-help books around. Check it out: www...

I have a copy of 'Runes'

Working at a bookstore, I see many "Uncorrected Proof" copies of books the publisher would like us to read and promote. Imagine my delight the other day when I fished a copy of "Runes" out of the pile! Now, I'm not going to post spoilers or anything, but below is some minor trivi...

He does have a great reading voice. We have had this discussion elsewhere and I believe the answer is no. While browsing at Borders Books I ran across the new paperbacks. They look pretty cool but nothing really spectacular. I'll be buying 'em though. I can't resist. :D Did you see new covers for all 6 books? I guess the ring motif has to be expected... It will catch the eyes of many people who saw the...

new cover art for the paperbacks?

Has anyone heard if the first 6 Thomas Covenant books might be re-issued with new covers in paperback when the Third Chronicles begin? It would be a smart move. IMHO, the current covers (which have been around for, what, 10 or 15 years?) are incredibly inferior to the Darrell Sweet art we enjoyed in...
