Ok I'm going to start on the script today, and look into getting a domain name and server for a site (I think www.thomascovenantmovie.com sounds good, because "the chronicles" is a term also used to describe the first Dragonlance trilogy). As with all book-to-movie conversions I may have t...

I love Legend and Willow too. But Legend more so. I saw it years ago and now I can't find it in video shops any more. This is supposedly because it's one of the most stolen movies (as well as Mallrats) from video shops.

J.R.R. Tolkien.
The others (in no particular order) include C.S. Lewis, Stephen Donaldson, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, Steve Jackson & Ian Livingston, and Sarah Douglas (Australian fantasy author!), David Eddings etc etc... there's more but I can't think of them right now.

I study film production at university and know how to write scripts (I'm actually in the process of making a short cult film at the moment), and I was thinking of making a site dedicated to the idea of a TC Movie. After the success of Lord of The Rings there has been a league of fantasy movies in th...

I'm not new here, but I'm not an oldschool poster either. I'm back and like the new look of the board since I saw it last.

I read they were born of a Giant somewhere but I forget exactly, though it may of been on the net, which is not a really trustworthy source to go off. Flawed birth is most likely what happened... and even though they didn't serve Foul in the begining they could of been born hateful because of him.

Vain, thanks!
My request was to change it to Gareth Yaztromo wasn't it? Well it is right now so you don't have to worry about it.
CovenantJr, Yaztromo is to busy keeping an eye on the Darkwood forest in Allansia to post here... so I'm representing him.

If the Ravers were children of a Giant, how did they come about their great power? And what drove them to hate nature... mayhap they were born with an extreme health sense, which flooded their nerves with pain? Just wild stabs in the dark...

Beyond The Land
I was wondering if there is any reference in the books as to what is beyond the boundaries of the Northern Climbs, the Southeron Wastes or the Westron Mountain range (we know a bit about the eastern sea from whence the Giants came, and where the Bhrathair and Elohim dwell)? And what does "Outer...

The Blue Wizards
Here is a nice little article (which I think is the best on the web so far) that explains the other two wizards of the Istari Order:

I'm assuming that when TC hadn't evolved yet into his "ultimate form" (at the end of the last book in the last battle with LF) anyone powerful enough could of manipulated the wild magic, even through him. However now I think it might be hard or impossible to do so.

... oh and on another note. Does anyone know the significance of the prefix "ur-" like in ur-vile and ur-Lord (the title given to Thomas Covenant)? Is it like Mr. or Sir - some kind of esteemed title?

danlo and the others revealed the ur-viles and Waynhim to be created by the Viles who were the original race of that kind. Remember the old legends said the Viles were once a high and lofty race and after Foul "rendered them seedless" I believe they must have found a way 2 somehow pass an ...

Thanks for the feedback guys, and thanks for the welcome danlo. All those points seem very valid and it makes some sense now. *L* And while on the subject of ur-viles I noticed there was an earlier discussion about the reason why the Despiser's name was Foul. If the ur-viles were once known as Viles...

Lawful ur-viles?
I was just wondering why the ur-viles created Vain with the purpose to re-create the Staff of Law? I thought they are evil servants of Lord Foul? It just doesn't make sense.
