About to post exactly the same thread my self Doc, and I can't think of a better person to have been pipped to the post by! I'll expand a bit by saying that I saw the man both in his Hawkwind and Motorhead incarnations and he was simply a legend in the true sense of the word. In his own assessment he wasn't pretty, but by God he was up there! God speed my man - the world is a lesser place without you.

I saw them on tour back in the 80's I guess - or nineties. It was the tour where they had the stage backdrop of a huge model bomber flying in over the stage. They were loud, in your face and simply fantastic and belted it out for 90 minutes without break or let.
