Cinderella
Saw this, the Kenneth Brannagh Disney remake tonight, and I liked it. It was rich in color, subtle in presentation, and altogether beautiful in execution. It made a lump come to my throat on more than one occasion, and left me feeling happy - surely the measure of a successful bit of film making? The film has been criticised for it's stereotypical presentation of the heroine as a sweet innocent, rather than executing her as a more forcefull figure in controll of her own destiny [ala the heroine of 'Frozen'] - but I had no problem with that. In her own quiet way Cinderella does indeed exert the influence that pushes the story to it's happy conclusion and I think it's enough. She is not made smaller by her innocence and goodness - rather she rises above others, both male and female alike, who exhibit less favorable charachteristics.
President of Peace? You fucking idiots!

....and the glory of the world becomes less than it was....
'Have we not served you well'
'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'
