We've started watching this Hulu original based on the Stephen King novel and we're really enjoying it. It's a time travel show, so I was chary of it, but the method of time travel and the rules of time travel are interesting.
I really enjoyed the book. Might have to do the Hulu.

Finished it the other night. I thought it was great, and I loved the book. Part of me wishes they'd spread it out into two seasons, but they edited the story down to 8 episodes very, very well.

I wondered how it would compare to the book. Good to hear your perspective, Cail. It didn't seem too short or incomplete to me, however, I did want more info on exactly what had changed after saving Kennedy, the whole mechanics of it, and how wide the damage was. It didn't seem like Jake had enough motivation to want to change it all back quite yet. Why not look around a bit more instead of talking to one bum? Maybe he just landed in the Maine equivalent of Detroit. LOL.
I really liked the emotional touches, the sentimental love story. That was very sweet. I might have to read the book.

Oddly the alternate Kennedy-less future wasn't really fleshed-out much more in the book.....Which was a shame, because I liked the glimpse of it, and King does post-apocalypse really well.
There were a lot more trips back in the book, and a lot more detail to them (Florida, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the It tie-in, etc). The series was so well done and looked so damn good that I would have liked spending more time with it.
But it wasn't necessary at all.

I'm watching this at the moment. I've read the book, which kinds makes watching the series a bit flat. That said the show looks great and is really well done. The time travel thing is more fleshed out in the book and feels 'right' after a while.

We finished this last night, and I have to say the ending was very sad, but still satisfying.
I agree with the sentiment above that I wished the post-apocalypse scenes were explained better - for example, I wasn't clear at all on why there was a nuclear war.
I have never been a fan of Franco, but I have to admit, he was very solid in this role.
Daniel Webber deserves an Emmy nomination for his stellar performance as Oswald.

Franco's a lousy actor, but he was really focused for this role. I'm assuming he was a fan of the book, which is why he let himself disappear into the role.
Webber was indeed fantastic. He was able to turn Oswald into a somewhat sympathetic, tragic character.
This didn't quite reach the heights of the first season of True Detective, but it came pretty close.
