I've not really been interested in anything Corgan's done since the Pumpkins split. Otherwise I probably would have tried this new one out.

It's a cut above Corgan's other stuff since 2000.

I agree. The Future Embrace was a little too....mm...techno for my taste.

Preliminarily...I like it. I need a few more listens before I get a real feel for the album but I'll let you know as soon as I get a good read. Doomsday Clock, Bleeding the Orchid, and Bring the Light are currently my highlights.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. "Cherub Rock" was the song that got me to notice this band, and for a while there I identified them with overlayered guitar sounds. Then they got electronic toward the end of the 1990s, and came up with "Ava Adore", another song I enjoy though it sounds nothing like "Cherub Rock". Billy Corgan's no great singer, but I admire his songwriting skills.

Sometimes it's nice to know I'm not alone in some of my frustrations.

BULLET WITH BUTTERFLY WINGS
(Written by Billy Corgan)

The world is a vampire, sent to drain
Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames
And what do I get, for my pain?
Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game

Even though I know--I suppose I'll show
All my cool and cold-like old job

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage

Now I'm naked, nothing but an animal
But can you fake it, for just one more show?
And what do you want? I want to change
And what have you got?
When you feel the same

Even though I know--I suppose I'll show
All my cool and cold-like old job

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage

Tell me I'm the only one, tell me there's no other one
Jesus was an only son

Tell me I'm the chosen one
Jesus was an only son for you

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage

Tell me I'm the only one, tell me there's no other one
Jesus was an only son

And I still believe that I cannot be saved
