Yes, but which was your favorite?
I only saw a few in the theater this year, but caught a lot of 2016 on video. The vote for favorite film this year would probably have to be Kubo and the Two Strings. It hit just the right note at just the right time for me.

I didn't see much at the theater in actuality.
Star Wars: Episode 7
Spectre
Deadpool
Capt. America - Civil War
Star Trek: Beyond
Star Wars: Rogue 1
What I caught on Blu-ray or digital streaming:
Zootopia
Zoolander 2
Gods of Egypt
London Has Fallen
10 Cloverfield Lane
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
The Huntsman: Winter's War
X-Men: Apocalypse
Alice Through the Looking Glass
Now You See Me 2
Finding Dory
Independence Day: Resurgence
Jason Bourne
As always some were crap, some were watchable but forgettable and some were pretty cool.
The good: Star Wars 7, Rogue 1, Star Trek: Beyond, Deadpool, Captain America etc.
The ok: Jason Bourne, Finding Dory, Spectre, Zootopia, Xmen etc.
The crap: Independence Day 2, Gods of Egypt, Zoolander, etc.
The one's I wanted to like but fell between OK and CRAP were Batman v Superman, London Has Fallen, Alice 2.
Some I have no interest in seeing. Warcraft, Suicide Squad, Ghostbusters and the last Hunger Games film come to mind of those that have been listed above. Not saying I won't watch them if my wife wants to (I know she had some interest in Suicide Squad). I've watched the Cinema Sins "Everything Wrong With" of all of these four which doesn't help.
The number one film I haven't seen yet is Dr Strange. I'm ashamed that I will likely see it when I buy it on blu ray.
My favorite was probably Episode 7.
The one I wanted to like the most and was disappointed the most was Batman v Superman. Throughout the film I kept rolling my eyes at the illogical plot points and then got the double sucker punch of the idiotic resolution to heroes conflict and the nearly completely cgi ending. I guess I expected maximum effort by the film makers for an event of this magnitude and it just didn't come close. This was one of the few times I actually agreed with the critics. I'm sure I'll watch it again in the future with less emotion and say something like "well that's not so bad I guess". The last time I felt this way is when I first saw the Movie version of Lost In Space or Howard The Duck.

Deadpool might be my second favorite, which is very surprising to me. I didn't think I would like it as much as I was hearing others rave about it, mainly because I have serious superhero fatigue, and ended up seeing it by myself in the theater. The opening credits convinced me I was in for something special.
In the theater, I saw both Star Wars flicks, Deadpool, Zootopia, Finding Dory, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Fantastic Beasts, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Conjuring 2, Miss Peregrin.
I watched a heap on streaming or blu ray, but mostly kids movies and superhero flicks, but only managed to watch Marvel and not DC, since apparently most of those sucked. Although I am watching Suicide Squad at home, but kept falling asleep at the end, so I don't know how it ended.

Dead pool was great; my only problem with it was Colossus.

I got the Hateful 8 DVD and watched it last weekend. I thought it was pretty good.

I am a Kurt Russel fan so it probably won't be long before I watch H8 but I don't tend to enjoy Tarantino films most of the time though the closest I've come to actually liking one was Inglourious Basterds. Kim liked the Kill Bill films so I've seen them both but didn't care for them even though the over the top action was an intentional homage to classic Kung Fu films.dANdeLION wrote:I got the Hateful 8 DVD and watched it last weekend. I've been very disappointed with Tim Burton for a very long time, and based on his involvement, I almost didn't see the movie. But I'm glad I did. I liked it quite a bit. While it may not be one of his more memorable films, it definitely was more enjoyable even then some of his more memorable films.aTOMiC wrote:Just caught Miss Peregrin via streaming. The problem with Miss Peregrine's etc was it's slide into dull CGI and cliche in the denouement. IMO Fantastic Beasts was much superior fare, topping any original HP film I have seen and holding ones attention until the final scene. Arrival would probably be my favourite for the year and Warcraft my guilty secret.

Blood Father
Hacksaw Ridge
Creed
Episode 7
Deadpool
Capt. America - Civil War
Mockingjay Pt. 2
London Has Fallen
10 Cloverfield Lane
Now You See Me 2
The Girl on the Train
That's all I can think of. Creed was excellent, as was Hacksaw Ridge. I enjoyed the hell out of Blood Father and 10 Cloverfield Lane. The rest......meh.
