I have never owned a smartphone, nor do I have any particular desire to own one. I don't give much thought to my left pinky toe, but I imagine that my balance and the fit of my shoes would suffer in its absence, so I think I will keep it.

You are stranded on a desert island for six months. You may bring either one book (any book, your choice), or an e-reader that contains an entire library, but only enough battery life to last the first month.

Assuming one of the books on the ereader is "how to make a universal battery charger out of nothing but coconuts" I chose ereader.

Pine Kirk or Shatner Kirk?

Nothing against Pine, but I just can't do the new movies. Sorry. Shatner all the way.

Original Star Trek movies, or the reboots?

Cripes! That REALLY depends.

As a whole I've enjoyed the Kelvin Timeline movies pretty uniformly.

The original films include...Star Trek V...but also include the all time best Wrath of Khan.

Khan wins.

Beaches or mountains?

Mountains, mainly for a change of scenery. Though I used to live closer to the beach, and I miss it.

Keeping up with the news: Read or Watch?

These day I only read about the news, only on a rare occasion do I sit and watch it.

3 medium sized computer monitors. WoW in the center, KW/web stuffs on the left, video editing on the right. I have two - lacking the one on the right, so editing and web stuffs have to share.

I guess I would have to go with space which I find more interesting as a concept. Although both offer an environment that is hostile to human life.

Alien or Predator?

Alien, because the outer space location makes it feel more suspenseful to me.

Chili (as in, beans and hamburger, not the pepper) or stew?

Stew. Never been a fan of Chili in any form.

North Dakota. I flipped a coin. I don't really want either.

Live on Mars, or live on a planet that's more like Earth but in a different solar system?

I'll pick the Earth-type planet in a different solar system. At least I can feel comfortable about it sustaining life, even if its impossible to return to Earth. Of course if the only nourishment to be found is the equivalent to Earth peas I'm in pretty deep doo doo.

What would you rather have to sit through, an even crappier sequel to Battlefield Earth or a root canal without the use of a numbing agent?

An even crappier sequel to Battlefield Earth, mainly because it doesn't involve a root canal...

Toast or cereal?

I had to look them up. Duff Gardens looks less crazy.

btw, I saw the original Wrath of Khan (I was a huge Trekker back in the day when we called ourselves "Trekkies") and I thought it was embarrassingly bad. To each their own, I guess.

Amy Winehouse or Etta James?

Etta James, though Amy Winehouse was certainly talented as well.

(And I've always been fine with either Trekkie or Trekker - never understood the drama. We're all on the same team.)

Trekkie or Trekker?

Trekkie always seemed like a natural, organic label.

Trekker seemed like something deliberate to sound less goofy or politically correct.

I'll go with Trekkie.

One band. Music festivals are usually like a box of candy that has a few good flavors and a bunch of filler.
