Nope, linna.

Who can't decide if she should go back and replace that comma witha semicolon.
Then it would be:
"Nope; Linna."
Because of course I'd have to fix the capitalization then too, if I got my cursor in place... went to all that effort.

I accidentally clicked on the thread because I saw aTOMIc, forgetting that clicking on this thread implicitly binds me to an agreement to post on it...
...unlike other threads, which, having clicked on, I can just "lurk" on.
Khaliban wrote:...But, have you ever seen Linna and deer in the same room? Or Stevie and Cags? Or Cord and Cheval? That horse looks suspiciously familiar.
:haha:
Stevie and Cags is the most unlikely of those possible conflations, methinks.
TOM, also not infrequent, and Sky, her emoji addiction would give her away.
Hmmm, sky is asleep now, most likely.
I'll go with the "History repeats itself theory and say:
ATOMic, then Khaliban.

The correct punctuation would be:

"Nope. Linna."

To give each word more punch.

(Technically, "Nope, Linna." is responding to, not from, Linna.)

I could also discuss "witha" or missing end quotes, but I have no wish to alienate you.

Sorus then Stevie.

Wrong again ;) :P

Linna today there is a move away from the use of full and semi colons. Most Writing Style Guides are liberating themselves from old grammar rules, for good or ill 🤷‍♀️ .. there seems to be a move to Plain English and website friendly writing styles, which are not overly dramatised.

Such rules today dwell in the realms of the Grammar Nazis, cos theyre the only ones that care any more about such nit pickiness :P

🤔 .. so Sorus definitely, hopefully, maybe, then Stevie 🤞

Soon enough.

Grammar is not fascist. It exists to help eliminate some of the ambiguity inherent in any language. A move toward simplified, web based grammar might appeal to low attention span masses with poor typing skills, but it will increase ambiguity rather than clarifying communication. Intentional ambiguity is one thing, but institutionalized laziness is quite another.

I suspect, at some point, the ambiguity will lead to a court case that will scare people into proper grammar. But, that's just a guess.

Deer then Cord.

Oh as always spot on ;)

I sense a grammar nazi in the ranks ;) :P

I mean I have my issues with this new trend .. and I actually agree it is a trend to linguistic laziness .. one of my pet hates is the new definition of "literally" .. not ever, ever was this word intended to mean "metaphorically" 🤷‍♀️ But meh 🤷‍♀️

You either have to move with the times .. opposing the absurdities .. or get left behind and be relegated to the realms of the antiquated and archaic 🤷‍♀️

I foresee .. a poster bumbling in next with an "s" in their nick :P

I do not bumble, literally or metaphorically. At least not often. Or intentionally.

TOM then Cags.

Sorus has cats, so tripping must happen. It is often confused with bumbling.

Cheval, because he is overdue, and Stevie, because he is also overdue.

Sky- my dad would be distraught when he'd trip on my sister's little pooch in... that one portion of a hallway that had insufficient lighting.
Khaliban wrote:(Technically, "Nope, Linna." is responding to, not from, Linna.)
It's like I was talking to myself on a public forum!

But if I said:
"No. Khaliban."
That could also be interpreted as responding to you... just in an exaggerated drawn-out way such as one might say:
Missing end quotes. Will. Never. Happen. Again.
(which is not to say they won't.)
Khaliban wrote:I could also discuss "witha" or missing end quotes, but I have no wish to alienate you.
:haha:
Reading these recent pages, I am concluding you are a Master of Sass.

I was immediately wanting to see that as:
"Today there is a move away from the use of full and semi colons: Most Writing Style Guides are liberating themselves from old grammar rules, for good or ill."

I hafta pick a person/people who I think are likely.
So...
Skyweir, then Sorus.

Linna's been here twice on the same page. That exceeds her quota.

Cags and Cheval, because they're overdue.
