SRD's Birthday

Post by Romeo »

It's that time of year again! Post your well wishes in this thread, and we'll compile them all and send them to Steve on his birthday (May 13th).
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Actually, I have an online merchant account, and a VeriSign protected shopping cart system. So I could set up a custom online form if people wanted to contribute via credit card. 2.5% per transaction is a lot easier to swallow than the 15%+ that PayPal charges. I can take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. :-) I'm also willing to give out my mailing address if people want to pledge a certain amount, and then mail me a Western Union transfer, money order, or check (US checks only - the cost to depost a foreign check is prohibitively high).

But I don't know that much about his likes and dislikes. The only thought I had was a box of good cigars, since I think he enjoys one every once in a while. A friend of mine is big into cigars, and made some recommendations. I think they run in the ballpark of $100 per box. Anyone able to get their hands on some Cubans? (cigars, that is - heh heh)
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

I wasn't here last year, so this is my first chance to say:

Happy Birthday, Mr. Donaldson!

I agree, you're not quite "as old as dirt" yet. But dirt can't write as well as you, anyway! :)

Yours respectfully,
Ying.

I was gonna say, "Have a terrific day, and then get back to work on book 8!" but I don't know him....

Ali - He has a good sense of humor, so I don't think he's take offense at the jest (just put a smiley after it - heh heh).

And I AM able to get all the graphics that are put into the posts. I just copy/paste everything into a Word document, which captures all the graphics and font formatting.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

"We are born weak, we need strength; helpless, we need aid; foolish, we need reason. All that we lack at birth, all that we need when we come to man's estate, is the gift of education."
- Jean-Jacques Rousseau

You've given us that gift a hundred times, whether it's just an expanded vocabulary or a kind of knowledge that's more valuable. The only thing we can really give you in return is praise and royalties. May you have many more fruitful years, ensuring that they both keep coming in.

Tauri Rule,
Dustin
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
-George Steiner
