So you follow the lives of these last inhabitants and what it takes to live in an area like this and the sure knowledge that once they are gone, some of this survival knowledge will go with them.The arctic wildlife refuge is roughly the size of the State of South Carolina. In 1980 the US government banned any new occupation to this area. Only 7 permits remain. The permits only go until the death of the last child of the current occupants. Within 100 years there will be nobody here. We are the Last Alaskans.
