The Giant-Ravers

Post by KaosArcana »

Would they have returned to normal if the Illearth Stone fragments
had been taken or destroyed? Or did the Stone damage them
permanently so that they would always remain evil?

The scene at Coerci in _The Wounded Land_ always bugged me.
Why did the innocent Giant who was mastered by Foul and the
Stone deserve to be stuck in a constant loop where he had to
kill his kind and kin over and over again?

The Stone fragments enabled the Ravers to possess the Giants, I don't think they would have been forced to leave the bodies even if the fragment had been taken away or destroyed.

Stuck in a traumatic experience... (After)Life isn't fair. :(

 - 3 ravers right... and some giantish woman has triplet children... brothers... the ravers call themselves brothers... am i the only 1 who finds this prophetic?

i mean, it cant just b co-incidence that 3 giant brothers were taken by the 3 "brother" ravers... and if they did it intentionally, y? surely there were stronger giants, its unlikely that the triplets were the strongest 3 giants in the whole of coercri. is it just because they were giants, or because they were regarded in such high esteem by the other giants?

8O that mother must have been the size of a house, literally, just b4 going in2 labor! 8O 8O :o

What I keep remembering is just how long lived the Giants are.
Foamfollower was born on the voyage that saved the Unhomed
from the Desceration. Pitchwife tells Linden that Giants her age
are stil living under their parents' care.

The Giant Brothers were only forty years old. In Giant Terms they
might not have been old enough to shave yet...

I always took it for granted that Foul had a hand in that. The brothers were a sign of an end to Giant's stay in the Land. Just not the end they hoped for.

the reason they posed the kids was becouse it would completely dishearten the giants. And it worked. They stood by idle while they were all being slaughtered

And you know, I gotta say ... that was a PROFOUNDLY stupid thing
to do ...

In the long run, it wouldn't have made any difference. The Triplets' Father says that some "four or five" tried to run away, but they were taken by
the Lurker ....

So the Giants were doomed regardless....

But maybe some of the Giants from Home would come to the Land for
the 3rd Chronicles. It's sad to think of Coerci being empty forever ....
