The 90s becoming retro? It still feels like the 90s to me, whereas the 60s and 70s and 80s were so distinct from each other. Maybe that's just me, I dunno.
Rambling aside. My favorite 90s bands? I'd say it's a tossup between Nirvana and Radiohead, for me. Brilliant songs, both of them, and I love their given styles, as well. Both are perfect for different moods. I've got Nevermind and In Utero on the Nirvana side of things, and though I've only got Radiohead's OK Computer, I plan on acquiring Amnesiac (I love that song "You and whose army?"). Oh yeah, and Soundgarden's album SuperUnknown is another favorite 90s album of mine.

Smashing Pumpkins are the best 90s band. Gotta love "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," 2 discs, 28 songs. "Siamese Dream" is friggin brilliant, as well. As is "Gish." Ah, the list of great Pumpkins songs and albums just goes on and on...
Followed by: Nirvana, S.T.P., Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth (not really 90s...but they hadda bunch of albums in that decade--namely "Dirty"!), Foo Fighters, Soundgarden...
Ah the 90s. A great decade for music.
Good thread, Foul.
