I would definitely choose Beleriand at the height of the First Age. As much as we love Lothlorien and Rivendell, just think what it would have been like to see the world when the elves were at the height of their civilization. Imagine a travel itinerary that included Menegroth, Gondolin, and Nargothrond.
I would also have loved to witness the great (and sadly the last) victory of the elves over Morgoth in the Dagor Aglareb; when elven cavalry swept over the plain and destroyed the hosts of Morgoth "to the least and last within sight of Angband's gates."

As corny as it sounds, I'd have to go with "The Land"duchess of malfi wrote:This is an offshoot of a discussion we have been having over at Endless Shadows. If you could go to any famous world/s in a fantasy or science fiction series (Narnia, Middle Earth, Amber, Hyperion, Neverness, the Land, etc.) which one would you pick??![]()
I think I'd go to Middle-Earth myself, just to hear the elves singing.

I think I'd go to Lyra's Oxford. I want to see my daemon. Plus they have electricity--sorry, anbaric energy--& hot running water. And possibly flush toilets.
What is it about imagined worlds of surpassing beauty that makes them so utterly incompatible with the few good things about modern civilization?
(Actually, it occurs to me that Hobbits are the type of people who might invent flush toilets for Middle-Earth. The old-fashioned kind, with the tank up top and the chain, and a mahogany seat. Will one of the Shire-visitors in this thread let me know when you get back?)

Halfway down the stairs Is the stair where I sit. There isn't any other stair quite like it. I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top; So this is the stair where I always stop.

Of all the Fantasy places I've visited, none were so special as my time on Solaria.

Since reading Earthsea, I would have to say that I would love to visit Roke and the Imminent Grove. Walk among the trees and talk with the Patterner. Then maybe spend the summer in Re Albi in the Old Mage's House.

And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

You know, thinking on it again, I doubt that I'd choose to go to the land, what would really be fun would be Krynn, I'm a long time Dragonlance fan, and yeah its kiddish, light hearted, very cliche'd but its familiar, I could see myself up with the elves in the trees, or with the dwarves out in Thorbadin, yeah Krynn would be nice. Cheers.

If I ever went to Earthsea I would probably sail west, to see the dragons on the morning breeze over Selidor.Furls Fire wrote:Since reading Earthsea, I would have to say that I would love to visit Roke and the Imminent Grove.
