That you did, I just needed to be the nutcase wiseguy anyway. ;)
I'll be back soon with a new riddle.

EDIT:

Here ya go:

My first wears my second; my third might be
what my first would acquire if he went to sea.
Put together my one, two, three,
And the belle of the harbor is the girl for me.
What am I?

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want
to test a man's character, give him power.
--Abraham Lincoln

Excerpt from Animal Songs Never Written
"Hey, dad," croaked the vulture, "what are you eating?"
"Carrion, my wayward son."
"Will there be pieces when you are done?"

Manhattan.

A man can wear a hat, and a man might get a tan while at sea. "The Belle of New York" is a comedy play that ran in Manhattan at the turn of the century.

What is greater than God,
more evil than the devil,
the poor have it,
the rich need it,
and if you eat it, you'll die?

It would have to be a [double-vowel]-[double-consonant]-[double-vowel] combination to work. And there aren't much in the way of doubles of "a's", 'i's", or 'u's" in the English language so the vowel doubles would have to be of either "e's" or "o's".

Okay, GOT it: bookkeeper
