The Smithathon

Hey everyone,
Who's up for a Smithathon? What's that you say? Well, it's watching the three Matrix movies, back to back (one to three). I reckon we should all set a date, say beginning of July, and watch the movies. Then post here your impressions.
Opinions? Condemnations?

I'm having my Smithathon tomorrow.

I have seen, much to Fist's annoyance, none of the Matrix movies. I have, however, rented all three dvds the other day, and intend to spend tomorrow night watching them.

I have the first two..
but a smithathon isn't very impressive...

A Smithathon wouldn't be complete unless you also throw in Animatrix.

As soon as extended ROTK is released, my children and I plan on taking a weekend and having a LOTR marathon.

I bought the third movie, but haven't watched it yet. I didn't get into the series until after the third one hit the theaters, and now I'm a big fan. But we're remodelling at the moment, and I don't want to watch it until I can get back into the family room, which is wired for 7.1 THX. If I'm going to do it at all, I need to do it right (shake drywall dust from the ceiling, set off car alarms outside, etc).

I'd LOVE to see them again, but not sure if next weekend would work. Possibly, although another might be better. But in case it's good for everybody else, maybe I'll watch them this week at night, after my ex picks up the kids on her way home from work.

Actually every Thanksgiving we have a Guestathon. The movies of Christopher Guest.

Thanksgiving Night we watch Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind. Despite the liplock in Best of Show we always view that during the afternoon as the kiddies like the dogs. For those who can still keep their eyes open, This is Spinal Tap gets a late, late showing.

The Matrix? I'm not sure I could sit though two hours of that anymore, let alone all three movies.

A friend has just loaned me his copies of the 3 Matrix movies, AND animatrix.

Spooky.

Don't know when I'll get round to watching them all though.

A Mx trilogy fest sounds like fun. When shall I drop over? (I don't think we ever got around to purchasing the last one -- the first was the best, the second was great, and the third one left me dissatisfied...)

For Thanksgiving, my wife and I always watch "Home for the Holidays." It prepares us for the least savory bits of our family get-togethers, and serves as a counterbalance to the many annoyingly perky X-mas Drones out there. (I'm talking about the fakey-people... I enjoy true holiday cheer).

I thought I was primed for the Smithathon last weekend, but became preoccupied with other stuff. Will try again this upcoming weekend. It's a matter of getting into the right frame of mind. I want to be able to watch the Matrix movies with total commitment.

Hey, Phantasm, if you've never seen the Matrix before, I hope you'll find it interesting at the very least.

I still agree with what duchess said earlier, that the Smithathon wouldn't be complete without Animatrix.

It would be neat to talk about the Matrix again. While the original film will always reign supreme in my mind, my views of the sequels have evolved over time and I'm not as hostile as I once was towards them (especially Matrix Revolutions, which I initially hated.)

I think the trilogy is fantastic.
