Army of the Dead (Netflix) No spoilers
It.....didn't suck.
I love the whole Zombie genre.
But I've gotten so used to so many horrible zombie movies that my bar is really low to make me happy.
(Dawn of the Dead (2004) was to me the absolute best that I've ever seen btw.)
This was a fun movie.
I thought that the casting was really good.
I really liked all the assembled characters.
Bautista was good.
The safe cracker was good.
I like them all.
What I loved the best were the strong female characters that were realistic.
No 95lbs woman throwing 200lbs men around.
Remember Private Vasquez in Aliens?
She was awesome.
There were a few like her in Army of the Dead.
And the Helicopter pilot was pure gold.
The zombies?
Well they threw every zombie trope that they could into this movie and usually it was for no reason and no payoff.
But whatever.

Enjoyed it until I got bored to death in the third act
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Yeah, it almost lost me a few times too.
Also the daughter side story was boring and dumb.
I really liked the last few minutes in the ending though.
Thought it was funny.
Welcome back, btw.

I loved it for what it was, and it was a wonderful mashup of Oceans 11, Aliens, and Die Hard. Great cast and solid action.
I wish they'd pulled a bit harder on the time travel/repeating thread.

The catholic church is the largest pro-pedophillia group in the world, and every member of it is guilty of supporting the rape of children, the ensuing protection of the rapists, and the continuing suffering of the victims.

I missed that.
Do you mean the other groups that were were sent in previously to retrieve the money and failed?

Based on the clothing and a few lines of script, it was the same team, over and over.High Lord Tolkien wrote:Time travel/repeating?Obi-Wan Nihilo wrote:I loved it for what it was, and it was a wonderful mashup of Oceans 11, Aliens, and Die Hard. Great cast and solid action.

There's a really interesting story there that I wish they'd addressed.
