Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Post by Revan »

Did you like it? and why?

I'm not doing this in the Harry Potter forum because we're likely to get more people posting in this one. :P

I have a house full of very excited kids today!!! Tonight they are having a midnight showing of Azkaban and Russ is taking them to that. They all have their Potter costumes ready. Chelsea is already wearing hers...my little Hermoine :hearts:

It's better than the previous one. Hermione's acting has improved, though the other kids are as wooden as ever. Michael Gambon makes a fine Dumbledore. It's much less...well...boring than Chamber was. My bum deemed it slightly too long, but I think the length was necessary even for this abridged version of the plot.

All in all, I enjoyed it, but it's not a patch on the book.

Well, according to my kids...it was the best Potter yet! :D

Brooke thought it followed the book pretty well. Much better than Chamber of Secrets did. And she also said that the "creepy feeling" was definately there. It's a great set up for Goblet of Fire. Where things really get dark for Harry.

Oh... "Gary Oldman ROCKED as Sirius!" Her words. She didn't care for Thewlis as Lupin. "He didn't have enough of that "rumbled look" that Rowling described in the book". She said she would have liked to have seen someone else play Lupin.

And my little Hermione? I guess she fell asleep half way thru it. Ah well...we couldn't leave her out of all the excitement... :D

It's coming to our drive-in movie theatre soon (that's right, drive-in) with Shrek II right after it. That'll be a lot of fun and it won't get over until about 2 in morning. Oooh, it going to take me a lot of Red Bulls to stay up  I'm really looking forward to it though, PoA was my favorite book.

My three year old loves the Harry Potter movies. He's been so excited. I'm taking him to see it tomorrow at a matinee.

Just saw it myself. I loved it, better than the first two but this one takes into accoutn taht youv'e seen the others or have read the books, chapters just whiz by in seconds, and certain things are moved around and edited obviously to make the movie better. Might piss off some of the hard-core people who insist on the movies being exactly like the books, but I loved it.

The companionship between the three friends is as good and humorous as ever, and the graphics hvae improved in different ways.

Final Verdict: Updated, Changed, Edited, but still BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!

Not seen it yet but have seen lots of previews... again it's becoming more obvious (???) that Ron and Hermionie are going to ... well you know... (the M word). But then again who knows.
I still need to finish OOTP before I start again.
I also still think we could do well to dissect the books... might as well eh?
It was offered to start... but...

Anyway... I'm looking forward to seeing it... probably soon.

I saw this last night. It's definitely much darker than the first two, as it should be. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's better than the first two movies. There is a lot of "jumping around" and to me the movie never flowed. Also ALOT of details are left out which to me were bothersome. But all in all it's still HP and it's still great.

Maybe it's good that I haven't read the books yet. I liked the third movie better than the previous two. So did my boy. I imagine there was loads more build up with Lupin and Sirrius in the books. I am still not going to read them until all the movies are done.
