60 second summary

Post by Bahgoon_the_Unbearable »

How would you summarize Lord Foul's Bane in 60 seconds? Just trying to get ideas, i have to do something similar in school this week. I'm finding it pretty hard so far, there is alot that must be expalined so that people can actually understand what i'm talking about. Oh and if you want a real challenge, try to tie in theme as well.
Thanks for the help in advance.

60 seconds? Wow. You picked a hard book. 8O

Sum sui generis

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

Uh....ummmm....well....*feels cheeks redden and sweat break out on forehead as she nervously watches the seconds tick away*....I...don't know.

I'd have to read it again to give you an answer, actually, but Variol's right, that's a toughie.

Lord Mhoram:Thomas Covenant, you are the savior of The Land.
Thomas Covenant: Bite me.
(Thomas Covenant saves The Land.)
THE END
I think a bit more can be added in sixty seconds...

How about...

Lord Mhoram:Thomas Covenant, you are the savior of The Land.
Thomas Covenant: Bite me.
Lord Mhoram: But Thomas Covenant, unbeliever, white gold wielder... you ARE the white gold!
Thomas Coveant: Didn't I just say Bite me!?? And get that Bloodguard off my back will ya? He's making me want to scream!

(Thomas Covenant saves The Land.)
THE END
remember the Oath Of Peace!

First time I saw that link was before I read the Second Chronicles. Unassumingly, I clicked on it. Talk about the ultimate spoiler!

Lord Mhoram:Thomas Covenant, you are the savior of The Land.
Thomas Covenant: Bite me.
(Thomas Covenant saves The Land.)
THE END
I have this old-fashioned quirk where I like to see these things broken down volume by volume. . . .

BOOK ONE: LORD FOUL'S BANE
Lord Foul: Groveller, you are the destroyer of the Land.
Lord Mhoram: Thomas Covenant, you are the saviour of the Land.
Thomas Covenant: Bite me.

BOOK TWO: THE ILLEARTH WAR
Hile Troy: You creep, you are the destroyer of the Land.
High Lord Elena: Beloved, you are the saviour of the Land.
Thomas Covenant: Bite me.

BOOK THREE: THE POWER THAT PRESERVES
Triock-Raver: Ring-wielder, you are the destroyer of the Land.
Foamfollower: My friend, you are the saviour of the Land.
Thomas Covenant: How many times do I have to say 'Bite me'? Oh, for Pete's sake. . . .

(Thomas Covenant saves the Land.)
THE END

(I should perhaps mention that Covenant's last line became an integral part of the New Lords' philosophy. I believe it was known as 'the Oath of Pete'.)
