The best part is Capustan with the Grey...Swords? Helms? I forget which. I also think I remember Quick Ben's conversation with the necromancers being good. By the way (spoilers regarding soletaken and d'ivers)
Someone in Deadhouse Gates - I think Fiddler - says that shapeshifters are born, not made, but we know from Memories of Ice that Buke takes a potion or something from K'rul and becomes a soletaken. I wonder if the high walls of Capustan being no defense, cannibalism, and Buke becoming a bird are a reference used by Attack on Titan, which I have not read or watched very extensively.

Swords. And Quick's initial contact with them is excellent. But yes, his other conversation you mention is brilliant.
And I won't say what this line is about. But a Quick line, just one sentence, that I absolutely loved:
‘Now that,’ Quick Ben muttered, ‘is the most surprising revelation this day.’

And even as big as it is, I'm always wondering how he managed to pack as much into it as he did.

Well what a ride so far... it just gets better and better. The warrens are poisoned that's not good but Quick Ben now has access again. But prior to that, damn the repercussions from cannibalism, then killing the prince and eating his flesh plus the flesh of many... draping the princes skin on the throne, good lord. The Shield Anvil taking in all that grief...but damn... what they did to Rath'Fener and then his soul. WOW. I thought that was enough, but then Paran heals Itkovian(The Shield Anvil) as he is dying. But then Gruntle becomes the new Mortal Sword... but different.. making his own path...
The above is brief considering all that led up to it and what happened to Rath'Fener has to be some of the best story telling so far... about 60% complete now.... geez how can it get better? No dont tell me!

Isn't it extraordinary that all that has happened in only 60%??

Here's a moment i love. You're well past it.
Absolutely hysterical!! It would have been entirely reasonable if he'd pissed his pants.
Spoiler
Frowning, the Shield Anvil shook his head and said, ‘The threat from the south comes from an empire called the Pannion Domin, ruled by the Seer – a mortal man. The reports of these K’Chain Che’Malle are recent developments, whilst the expansion of the Pannion Domin has been under way for some years now.’ He drew breath to say more, then fell silent, realizing that over ten thousand withered, undead faces were now turned towards him. His mouth dried to parchment, his heart suddenly pounding.
‘Itkovian,’ Pran Chole rasped, ‘this word “Pannion”. Has it a particular meaning among the natives?’
He shook his head, not trusting himself to speak.
‘Pannion,’ the Bonecaster said. ‘A Jaghut word. A Jaghut name.’

Loved it!!! Bauchalain was so smug, thinking he had set Quick Ben up.

What a ride!! Finished book 3 last night. Toc... was glad how that turned out. But oh man... Whiskeyjack. GDI I was kinda hoping that somehow someone was going fix that, but realistically, that does not happen. Not much left of the Bridgeburners but something tells me their story is not finished. We will see. Starting book 4 soon.

Not that I think any of the books are less than very good, and some more than great, but MoI blows me away like no other.
