Invictus

Post by Rigel »

Has anyone seen a preview or trailer for this?

I've been enjoying all of Eastwood's recent movies, so I was interested when I heard about this piece. However, I can't find any media for it online.

First I've heard...
-----

Hrm, all I could find was this summary:
"Based on the John Carlin book "The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed the World." The film is set after the fall of apartheid, when South Africa was host to the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Mandela (Freeman) was in his first term as South African president, and he used the event as a way to end decades of mistrust and hatred between whites and blacks."

Watched this tonight.

All I can say is --------- fantastic.

Maybe it's because I have a link to South Africa, but I thought it was a fantastic feelgood movie.

Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon played the lead brilliantly.

If that was the mood in SA during the 1995 rugby world cup, then I wish I had been there.

I can only imagine from the lack of comment on this subject that it wasn't released in the US due to the fact it was rugby based.

A very emotional film and one that you should seek out and watch if you haven't already.

Superb movie, well directed by Eastwood with his customary handling allowing the viewer to enjoy the richness of the film environment as well as the storyline.

Morgan Freeman had to play this part and this movie had to be made to allow that to happen.

An idea for a thread might be to think of other actors who were made for certain roles...I always thought the decision to leave out Tom Bombadill from TLoTR would forever leave Billy Connolly unfulfilled.

Last night I watched Invictus, starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as the captain of the S. African rugby team. Mandela has the inspiration to rally his country around a winning rugby team to help unify his badly-divided nation. I liked this movie.
