I was just thinking the same thing Hamako. It might take 5+ years to get all 4 books on the shelves! I will probably wait until they are all out to read any of them because I won't be able to stand waiting between books if I read them as they are published.

unless he's hafway thru writing the whole lot, which'll then be split into parts and published - that wouldn't take as long, outside hope though I bet

8O HOLY SH*T!!! 8O

Congrats Mouseglove!

One question...What was the timeline for the passage that he read? Any indication of how many years have passed in the Land and what is the condition of the Land? (Ok so that's really two questions).

I'm going to have to seriously consider attending this event next year. Does Donaldson show up every year?

Oh yeah...And what other authors did you see beside Straub and Donaldson?

Nothing specific, but it _felt_ like the first trilogy. The haruchai, the raman, the ranyhyn... it felt like the land was more whole than it was in the 2nd trilogy, just from the atmospherics he used.

SRD is on the board of this conference, so he's there every year.
Brinn wrote:Oh yeah...And what other authors did you see beside Straub and Donaldson?
*grabbing his conference program* Charles DeLint was the Guest of Honor this year, so he and his wife were there. Aside from those previously mentioned, the authorial attendees included: Ramsey Campbell, Brian Aldiss (also there every year), Michael Arnzen, Charles N. Brown, Margaret L. Carter, Suzy McKee Charnas, Ted Chiang, Amanda Cockrell, John Clute, F. Brett Cox, Kathryn Cramer, Ellen Datlow, Nick Dichario, Candas Dorsey, Andy Duncan, Radu Florescu, Jeffrey Ford, Gregory Frost, C. A. Gardner, Kathryn Ann Goonan, Theodora Goss, Joe Halderman, Elizabeth Hand, Robert Holdstock, David Hartwell, Daniel Keyes, Alex Irvine, Kij Johnson, J. Patrick Kelly, John Kessell, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Ellen Klages, Beth Adele Long, Jean Lorrah, Javier Martinez, Patricia McKillip, David Lunde, P. Andrew Miller, L. E. Modesitt, Jr., David Sandner, Eleanor Sabin, David J. Skall, Karen Traviss, Sheila Williams, Rick Wilber, Terri Windling, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.

I know maybe three or four of those in the list, but my wife knew a tremendous amount of them, thus why I typed all of the out instead of just the ones I knew. ;)

Also... Makes perfect sense to me that they should make Linden the protagonist this time around. Where Covenant's moral journey/evolution ended in WGW, Linden's really began. I think anything she did--even "shooing" away TC's Dead--will be redeemed. Much like when Covenant stopped being a jerk after the First Chrons. God, Third Chronicles! :R Woo Frickin' HOO!! :!:

Where do we think that the best place to get a tip off to a publishing date is?

Any ideas?

I'm feeling a bit queasy at the thought of it, you know the feeling you get when you're about to do something really great?

Not possible right now, as SRD has no publisher... yet. He said he was looking for one, and that Del Rey was interested, but he didn't seem too inclined to go with them based on how they've treated him and his work over the last decade.

I'm sure as soon as a publishing date has been set, we'll hear about it right here. But as was said before, it usually takes about a year from the time a published accepts a (finished) book until it hits the stands. So there's still lots of waiting to be done (but significantly less than the 20 years we've already waited!).

This is indeed an interesting thread, full of information that is useful to me, being as I'm close enough to drive to this IFCA thing next time it comes!

I'm also glad for another glimpse of "Runes". If this chronicles SRD's 2nd reading, is there anything written about the first reading on the Watch?

We need to sticky this thread.

There is a thread from Mouseglove from this year's reading, too. :) Great stuff! 8)
