What a homerun for the Watch. Thanks to Mouseglove for his work! Now if we can get him to logon....
I'd be willing to provide a complimentary title of his choosing and free special effects :)

But Yes !! AWESOME !! actually felt weak at the knees when I read it 8O

I really do hate to ask this but can everyone be sure that was really Donaldson himself?

I've followed his work for more than twenty years. I can remember waiting for each new book of the Second Chronicles at the mall's Waldenbooks (before there were B&N superstores). I've read alot of the interviews he has given in both magazines and the net.

And, he's never struck me as the type to use a '<grin>'.

If it is him, I join in everyone's euphoria.

I've seen him speak and met him twice...that's SRD! Perhaps the 'grin' is Jay? (kevinswatch)

I've spoken with and emailed him as well - that's definately him. The <grin> is his as well - I don't remember him ever using a sideways smiley face.

I can vouch for its authenticity. Those are the questions I gave him, in the order that they were listed on the print-out I had with me. Also, Danlo is correct, that is his tone, his vocabulary, and truly does seem his sense of humor, at least as far as I've seen.

End of Kevins Watch

Post by The Theomach »

I took his comment about Kevin's Watch to mean the spire of rock itself will be destroyed - perhaps to prevent further attempts at bringing people from "our" world to the land.

But that begs a question.... is there anything special about that locale that made it easier to summon people? Why did TC end up there in the first place? Why did he and Linden end up there? Why did Saltheart and ??? summon TC from there at the beginning of TPTP?

And here's another question, perhaps it should start a new thread....never mind, i'll save it for another thread.

Melenkurion abatha! (response to the email)

kevins watch is where Covenant was first summoned to- after drool had a go at him, the site of the ritual of desecration by Kevin (I think - still rereading the set) and where Linden healed the land at the end of the scond Chronicles. Obviously a place of power.

If Foul destroys it, then maybe the land can't be healed again....

It's nice to hear from him and find out that the final trilogy will actually be 4 books instead of 3. But, I'll admit I was real excited to get a new book sometime this year. Him saying at the end of 2004 is kinda sad. That’s a long ways away and it might be longer if there are problems. That is the one thing about Donaldson he is a very slow writer, most authors put out 1 book a year, but Donaldson is a little slower.

But, it's great to get an official word from the man himself. :D

IIRC (no books with me),

-Drool summoned Covenant to Kiril Threndor (site of the Ritual). Then Foul transported him to Kevin's Watch.

-Elena summoned him to the Close.

-Mhoram summoned him to the close. (And he refused.)

-Foamfollower & Triock summoned him to Kevin's Watch.

-Foul summoned him to Kevin's Watch.

when I first saw this I thought it would turn out to be an AFD prank, but the email itself contradicts it: it is too simple for that
this is very good news, I say; 2004 is not too late for me! ("Forty years? That does not seem long to me.")

oh well, maybe He will have a look at this place someday (maybe he is doing it right now, being curious?)

As far as I can remember these are also correct. Remember also that Hile Troy was summoned (by Atiaran) to the hills above the Loresraat/Trothgard.

As an aside, as I never seem to get this right myself, is it Kiril Threndor or Gravin Threndor? I always think of Kiril Threndor as the peak or the mountain, while Gravin Threndor is the cave at its heart. If so the most correct would be saying that the site was Gravin Threndor.

We acknowledge the effort and much more!
Imagine, Jay now has Donaldson's email!
If we don't bug him too much he might be willing to communicate with the watch once in a while!!!

This could be a topic for discussion in itself.
Interesting that Angus is missing from this list though.

Gravin Threndor is another name for Mount Thunder, Kiril Threndor is the heart of the mountain, the chamber, if we're being precise

Amazing! I'm awed.

For years i have scanned the net for information about SRD and discovered Kevinswatch only yesterday and the first thing I find out is that the man is actually writing the third chronicles. I was down on my knees. Thank you Mouseglove for that. Today I became a member .
