bloodguard question

I'm rereading the series after many years and I'm almost finished with TPTP. Does my memory fail me? I thought the Bloodguard were

one of the Seven Wards.
Is that not true?

No... Those bloodguard who had been around in Kevin's time knew what the final ward was, what it contained. That's how Covenant worked around Amok in TIW. They neither were one themselves nor were the guardians of one - Kevin simply messed things up, again.

No they are not wards. In the Illearth War, Bannor says something like the wards were weapons, and they had no use for weapons.

another things. they are, by my opinion, guarding any wards, i think that they would consider it an insult if kevin had asked them to look after one of his wards.
