Interesting Comparison...

Post by A Gunslinger »

Has anyone else noticed that like TC, Roland, the hero of the Steven King Gunslinger: DT books is also a half-hand? Whereas leprosy claimed TC's fingers, the lobstrosities claimed Roland's.

Weird.

I noted a while back that Tolkein's LOTR refers to a character named Berel One-hand, or something like that.

Actually, it was Beren Erchamalion. Erchamalion means "One Hand". When Beren stole one of the Silmarils from the crown of Morgoth, the wolf Carcharoth bit his hand off and swallowed it (the one holding the Silmaril, that is).

Interestingly, Beren's father is Barahir.
