Dawn of the Dead

Post by The Leper Fairy »

Ho-ly cow! This movies totally blows 28 days later out of the water as far as zombie movies go... Wow, it scared the pants off me. All the blood... Sure a couple bits were kinda corny, but that's to be expected... Has anyone else seen this yet? (if you go... stay for all the credits! )

I was divided. First off it was like a Night of the Living Dead on Speed, or rather maybe the zombies were. Damn those suckers were fast; that was great. Visuals were flat out awesome.

Locking everyone into a mall doesn't do much for a story tho. There's no real character development, no real plot. They just kinda sit around until the last 20 min, and then they all suddenly get stupid within minutes of each other and all hell breaks loose.

What's the moral?

I liked it okay, but it felt like "the latest monster flick". 28 Days Later had more angles to it, to me.

Yes - Dawn of the Dead is a horror movie, whereas 28 Days Later was an exploration of the less savoury aspects of human nature.

Dawn of the Dead was better just because it was so much funnier, like when they're on the roof of the mall taking sniper shots at the zombies who look like famous people.

I don't think they just looked like famous people. I think they meant that they actually were.

I seem to remember seeing the original Dawn of the Dead, and I feel no compulsion to see this version. As for it being better than 28 Days Later - I suppose it depends what you're looking for. I liked 28 Days Later, because it was so much darker than your typical zombie flick. Ok, that's one of the reasons I liked it...
