Hello all, Hardback questions.

Post by Diaf »

Long time lurker, rare poster but really enjoy the site.

Is it possible to find the first two books of the first series in hardback?

I would love to have a complete hardback set, would even be happy with the bookclub hard backs but am having a tough time finding them.

Thank you,
Jason

You can sometimes find used hardcover copies on Amazon...also, the Science Fiction Book Club has both the first and second chrons in hardcover omnibus editions, though the cover art is a bit strange. 8)

Used bookstores are always good. Avenue Victor Hugo in Boston had quite a few on sale before they shut down. I think they're still selling online, though, so it might be worth a try.

They are not too hard to find. Check out any Half Price books. They do have a website..halfpricebooks.com

I've seen numerous book club editions here in the dallas area.

Keep an eye on Ebay for Buy it now auctions - every once in a while - read about once every few months - you'll find a hardback of the first series on there.

I've also got some contacts overseas who search old book stores for me from time to time, and Donaldson, Tolkien and Salvatore are always high on my wants list.

Go to www.alibris.com . Do an advanced search for Donaldson, Lord Foul's Bane (then Illearth War), Hardcover, Dust Jacket, etc. You should get a pretty good list with some pretty affordable prices.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I have both Chronicles in hardcover w/ jackets.
B. Dalton was able to order the Second Chronicles
in hardcover for me, and recently my second copy
of Lord Foul's Bane.
(The second copy of LFB has different artwork on the jacket than what is on my original copy.)
I happened to get the First Chronicles in hardcover when they were still "fresh" in 1978(?).

As far as just finding one on in a store nowadays...
Good Luck.
