Hawking Changes View on Black Hole Paradox

Post by I'm Murrin »

For 30 years Steven Hawking has argued that information on matter contained within a black hole is destroyed and cannot be retrieved - but this claim defies the laws of physics, which state that the information can never be lost. Now, Hawking claims to have solved the paradox, and no longer believes the information is lost. He will present his news ideas at the 17th International Conference on General Relativity on the 21st July.

Danlo knows all about this kind of thing. The memory of all things is in all things.

(heh Everybody go read the Neverness books!)

I tell you, I don't know one darned thing about black holes. How something that has such high gravity that light can't escape its grasp can emit radiation is beyond me.
All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

Yesterday, Hawking unveiled his new theory on what happens to information in black holes. Here is the article:

Virtual particles, my friend. That's how it's done.

It's a lot more complex than that Ur-Vile.

You know, I've been telling old Stephen for years that his head isn't right on this topic. The last time we were together, just shootin' the breeze, I turned to him and said "Stephen, you're dead wrong on this black hole stuff." I'm glad to see that he's finally listened to me.

What? He's not deaf.

And in essence Ur-Vile is right when he says it's virtual particles. Just because the explanation is complex doesn't mean that those aren't the reason. The point is, they don't interact with each other IIRC.

Yeah... Virtual particles is indeed right... still doesn't actually explain it.

Darth, go read about it. You say it's a lot more complex than that . . . yeah I know, so I often dont have the time to write up a huge essay. It explains everything, darth, if you can be bothered checking it up.

I've checked it up more than enough times... I wasn't trying to attack you Ur-Vile. :(

After nearly 30 years of arguing that a black hole destroys everything that falls into it, Stephen Hawking is saying he was wrong.
Its nice to see that there is at least ONE man in the world that will admit he's wrong.

It's difficult to admit to being wrong when one is never wrong. ;)

I always admit to being wrong. :)

And the next sad loser who says in an annoying voice "But darth, you´re ALWAYS wrong. Oh, I´m so witty, and original"; gets my foot up their ass. i´ve heard it all before, get some new material, tools.
