Will Bryan Singer make a good Superman movie?

With a director that clearly knows how to create a valid super hero film, Superman just became a film I am looking forward to. After X-1 and X-2 I have full confidence in Singer. We'll see. :D

Revan you wet blanket you! Singer is a great director. My only angst is that this will likely delay both Logans Run and X3.

I'm pretty excited about this too - it will all depend on who Singer gets to play Clark Kent/Superman. The problem usually is that the actor makes a great CK but terrible Superman, or vice versa. Here's my take on the actors that I can remember off of the top of my head:

George Reeve - decent CK/decent Superman
Christopher Reeve - Excellent CK / terrible Superman
Dean Cain - Terrible CK / where's the damn forehead curl for Christ's sake

Singer will likely cast him as Clark Kent FIRST much like Raimi cast Peter Parker.

Here is a thought. Givne his work with Singer on X1 & X2, it may be worth looking into James Mardsen (Cyclops) as a potential Clark/Supes. Don't concetrate wholly on LOOKS here people, but in terms of risk/reward in prodcution. I think he might do well.

The last Superman movie sure sucked. My guess is that Superman IV poisoned the film franchise so much that only now, after years in the wilderness, are movie industry people taking the Man of Steel seriously again. It helps to have Mr. Singer on board, too. :) At the very least, this new film should be better than No. 4. Anything remotely resembling a coherent movie should be better than No. 4.

Wasn't IV the one with Richard Pryor? What was III?

Pryor was III and that was the whole computer scam thing he tried with the left over cents that are rounded up and put into a specific bank account.

Part IV had some alter Superhero that was made from Superman's DNA from his hair that was from the sun....etc..

The next movie could be a good one but its all dependant on how true to the story and how devoted the director is, and if Singer does it like X-men then it could be done well. The only issue that I find with Superman movies is that the flying sequences always look so shitty. I mean evne with the techonology today, its obviously going to be CGI, so how can it be done in such a way as to not look so campy and cliched. Ah well, guess we'll see, its good that somoen ehas finally decided to do something ,cheers.

Anyone want to weigh in on the Mardsen as SUperman/Kent Prospect? It would not shock me!

I really couldn't say. The film version of Cyclops seemed utterly bland, so I have no idea whether Marsden would do a good job of portraying Kent/Superman.

If DC wants a good Superman movie, they better memorize every stinking detail of Matrix 2 & 3's Neo/Smith battles. Hell, they might even want to use the same actors!

I agree. Brian is a great director, he has done an amazing job with x-men, and will do more... but I just don't think the Superman films are something that can be done well... It's too bland... and what's the point in having a hero that can't be hurt? :?

Hurt his feelings OR wound his sense of responsibilty. That would be the point I suppose.

DARTH, You miss the point about "big blue". His invulnerability is comprimised by his nearly gargantuan hubris. His sense of freudian responsibilty is his ondoing. This iswhat makes him interesting.

Singer will undoubtedly make a movie about the man...not just fighting.

Yeah. I think Singer is a good director. He concentrates on the characters rather than the effects... :D
