Ok, since I haven't seen a C.S.I. thread, I'm starting one, because of all the new-ish shows out there, these ones are my favorites!
Ok, first question, just to get the ball rolling...which of the C.S.I. series' is your favorite? (Or do you like them at all?)
Mine would have to be Miami...I'm not really sure why exactly...I'll have to watch it tonight to put my finger on it...what a chore
Love it! But I find the original better, the Las Vegas based, I find the crimes more...what do you say, more interesting, and the actors better...both shows runs here in Sweden...
CSI-is my fav. TV show I really like William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and am madly in love with Marg Helgenberer. They have the luxury of better preservation of evidence in Las Vegas with the dry air and lack of water. You probably like Miami better because Caruso is more hard edged and the new Latin lady actor is a very good-it's also much more cosmopolitian. Caruso has always rubbed me the wrong way, for some reason, that's why I didn't get into NYPD Blue until Jimmy Smits took over his role.
I have heard that CSI New York is coming out this next season starring the beautiful woman who played Sid on Providence-Melina Kanakaredes and that Gary Sinise has just signed on to play Det. Rick Calucci. The following is from the CSI Files Message Board:

Just as CSI: Miami's Horatio Caine and company got their introduction on CSI: Crime Scene Investigations, the cast of CSI: New York will be making their initial appearance on Miami.
Zap2It reported that the CSI: New York team would be introduced in a CSI: Miami episode in May. The cast of CSI: Miami were debuted in a similar way, in the CSI episode "Cross-Jurisdictions". In that episode, Catherine and Warrick traveled to Miami to work on a high-profile case with top Miami detective Horatio Caine. The plot details for the Miami/New York crossover are not known at this time.
CBS President Les Moonves revealed the other three cities that were considered alongside New York. Chicago, San Francisco, and New Orleans were considered as well, with New Orleans and New York emerging to become the top two competitors.
However, Moonves explained that the choice was clear early on. "We talked about New Orleans, we talked about San Francisco, we talked about Chicago...but New York became the front-runner fairly early," Moonves said.
The network and production companies are currently trying to decide whether CSI: New York will be filmed primarly in New York City itself, or in Los Angeles, like CSI and CSI: Miami are. Moonves noted that New York officials are eager to have the show filmed in the city, and he said they have been "bending over backwards" to pursuade CBS executives to consider filming in the Big Apple.

I think it has something to do with Horatio...I like him better than I like Grissom...They're both fantastic actors, so it must just be their character's personalities that do it for me. Though Grissom has grown on me, I really didn't like him at first...now, he's cool, but I still like him less than Horatio.
Another part of it is that Sarah just kinda bugs me. I call her "Suicidal Sarah Sidle"...dunno if I spelled her last name right there...she just always looks like she wants to go into a corner an pout.

Women seem to like Caruso, I can't figure it out...I kinda agree about Sarah she always strikes me as a bit out of place and would be more comfortable playing a Dr. on ER.
I'm more of a Miami man too. Grissom can be a bit too 'zen' for my liking, I prefer Horatio's hard-line act. I like the gun lady too (forget her name) and I'm continually surprised at how they manage to write reasons for the diving guy to dive every week without them becoming contrived. I think CSI:Miami benefits from having a smaller cast, too. Plus it has an even better theme song (IMO).
As a biomedical scientist, I'm impressed by the accuracy of their science babble, with only very minor gripes ("LC-MS!? Why? Tandem MS would be faster, easier and gives a cooler read-out!"). I'm somewhat skeptical about some of the digital enhancement techniques they use to clean up photos and videos though. I'm pretty sure that, when somebody puts their finger over part of the lens, there isn't enough resolution to get a fingerprint from the photo. They seem to do that kind of thing a lot.

Sorry, gonna agree with some and disagree with others. CSI - Las Vegas has it all over Miami. And since much of the discussion has centered around Gil Grissom vs. Horatio. Well, Gil Grissom is a so much better written character with much more depth, he can make Horatio sometimes look like a cardboard cutout. Gil Grissom gets his depth from his Zen qualities and his ambiguities. FWIW, some friends of mine I used to work with would tell you David Caruso (Horatio) is only capable of playing cardboard characters.
OT tangent. Everyone knows already, that William Peterson (Gil Grissom) played the lead in a movie version of Thomas Harris's Red Dragon filmed in the early 1980s, film was named Manhunter.
To be honest I've never seen David Caruso in anything else. William Petersen is certainly a better actor, although I think it's a bit harsh to call Horatio a 'cut-out'. There isn't a lot to him, granted, but I don't think there's anything wrong with Caruso's delivery (compared to, say, Hayden Christensen and other graduates of the W. Shatner Academy of Film and Television).
I just find Grissom too deep, he has been given so much character development that I don't find him as believable as I used to.
It'll be interesting to see how CSI: New York turns out. It's going to have Gary Sinise and Vanessa Furlito (who was very good as Claudia in 24) in it.

NOT my opinion, I've sort of like David Caruso as an actor ever since he had a recurring role in Hill Street Blues in the 80s, and I liked the role he played in NYPD Blue in the 90s, the folks at my old work did not like him in Blue. (FWIW, his role is part of the reason the first season of Blue was the best)
When CSI first came on I was the biggest fan, but the shows got old so quickly that I never watch them anymore. But I agree with Danlo that Marg is HOT! Gotta love redheads.
CSI Miami - the only good thing you can say about it is the blond "gun lady" is smokin', but she was better on West Wing. Horatio is a sanctimonious jerk - "When you murder someone, you will pay." What crappy dialogue.
I love CSI. I must say I prefer the Las Vegas series though. I do like the Miami one but I have always liked Grissom (since I first saw Manhunter)
I also really enjoy those sorts or forensic story lines. They make up a good majority of that books I read mainly. They even have a CSI comic series out now-and just started the Miami one too
There is something called Cold Case I have watched that is also quite interesting, although have only managed to watch a couple of them.
I've never seen Cold Case....heard it's pretty good, though...I can't wait to see C.S.I. NY!!! Should be interesting to see Gary Sinise join the C.S.I. team...

Hey, I've just stumbled on loads of stuff about George Eads and Jorja Fox getting fired and re-hired over a contractual dispute, but I can't quite work out how things ended up. It appears that 24's Reiko Aylesworth has been confirmed as a new character (which is annoying, as I can now assume the 24 season 3 doesn't end well for Michelle). Anyone know what the state of play is?

FYI. AFAIK, George Eads's and Jorja Fox's issues were all resolved and they both will be in the new season that premiers here next Thursday Sept 23.
Ah, good. If they just vanished between episodes it would have left a gaping hole. In that case I think Reiko Aylesworth is being brought in to allow Greg to get out in the field more often.
