My night out inspired me to go out and pick up the Haydn London Symphonies. There are 12 of them so that ought to give me something to listen to.

My most recent purchases have been older albums that I once owned but somehow managed to lose along the way. I purchased Belly's "Star" album (Tania Donnelly's voice is unbeleivable). Grant Lee Buffalo's "Mighty Joe Moon" (A true gem from a little known band) and Michael Penn's "March" which was a steady play while I was in college (I actually remember liking it more in College after listening to it again but oh well...tastes change).

Yeah, she does have a beautiful voice. See also, Portishead. The singer for the Eels has a strange, child-like voice.

I've heard alot of good things about Portishead but I don't know if I've ever heard anything from them. How would you describe it? I think I have the first Eels album. I believe they did "My Monster and Me" which was used in the movie Shrek and the also had another hit from that album thet received a good amount of radio play. The title escapes me right now.

I'm a big fan of unique vocals and a large sound, hence my love of the Smashing Pumpkins. Any recommendations are welcome!

You know those really throaty lounge singers in noir movies? Like that... similar to Poe.

Not sure why I said Eels, though I suppose they're alright. Meant to say Cranes. One of the bands my wife has exposed me to... like Tori Amos and The Cure.

Hard to find their albums. My wife says One and Jewel, she thinks, are good. Forever Songs is their newest, got it at Borders a while ago.
