Tori and fantasy work well together - any Tori fans here? What's your favorite song/album? Have you seen any of this year's shows?

That's pretty cool - I didn't know she was living around there. She and Eric broke up, um, around 1995. She's married to her sound engineer now, and mostly lives in England. Has a kid now too.

I'm a big fan of her earlier stuff. Especially Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink. And most of the B-sides are great. She's a little loopy though. Ever seen a Tori Amos interview? 8O

My wife is a big fan of Tori. I think she's pretty good (though sometimes I'm just not in the mood to hear it). Her new album, Scarlet's Walk, is probably my favorite of hers so far.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

A little late, but yes, I'm a big Tori Amos fan. Not a fanatic though.

Favorite album: Boys For Pele, which also was my first one

I prefer the earlier stuff (Earthquakes, Pink and Pele), although I made friends with Scarlet's Walk a while ago. And I love some of her covers - try out "I'm on fire", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Famous Blue Raincoat" or "Over the Rainbow".

I became aware of Tori Amos through "Happy Worker," a song she contributed to the 1992 movie Toys. Liked that song a lot. I also liked her song "Talula", that was featured in the movie Twister. That's the extent of my familiarity with her music, but I certainly appreciate her unique vocals.

When she came out and MTV had a little bit of some of her videos for Little Earthquakes, I swallowed it up. Really liked her for a while, and then suddenly all of her new songs started to sound the same to me so I stopped. I saw her twice during the Under The Pink tour. The first time, I loved it, the second show, I thought she was a total kook, and further interviews I saw with her convinced me it might not be an act. When I hear her in small doses these days, I like the sound (Boys for Pele is still a fantastic album), but I get bored quickly.

2014 was the year of her last album. Looks like I bought my wife that one and Night of the Hunters, but I think she was as bored by them as I was.
