Mid-Atlantic Elohimbrunch!

Post by aliantha »

Plans are afoot for Watchers in the DC area to meet for brunch on Sunday, Oct. 24th, from 10:30am to 12:30pm (or whenever they throw us out...). So far, Romeo, Creator, Caer and I are planning to come; we're trying to get hold of Jay to see if he can make it, too.

Are there any other Watchers nearby who are interested? (In other words: y'all come!)

Is Springfield a real place then? :P I thought it was just a madeup place in a cartoon...

There are about a hundred of them scattered around the US. Isn't Springfield the capital of the state of Illinois?

They have fun in the Simpsons cartoon about dancing around the "real" location of their Springfield. I suspect that it's a generic place in the midwest, but it COULD be the Springfield in Virginia. After all, the one in the Simpsons is just down the road from "Capital City" (Washington DC, in this case).

Yes, it is. There are also rather large Springfields in Missouri and Massachusetts.

Yeah, well, the reality of this particular Springfield has always been in doubt, in my view, and I've been there! 8O

But be that as it may...who's coming to brunch with us?

Sorry, guys. Doesn't look like I'll be able to make it. I just don't have the finances this week for the trip.

Thanks, man, but I'm afraid it's the gas that's the problem (my Escort, the more gas efficient vehicle, scares me enough driving to work 10 mins away ). Heck, I'd be content with crackers and water if I could make it.

Call me humbled. You guys rule. I don't see how I could turn down such generosity. I'll be there.

WOOHOO!!!!

Just to let you all know - brunch is on ME. So bring a big appetite!

This saves us from having to do any math. And God knows that after my public display of mathmatical ineptitude here in the General board, I'm afraid to do even simple addition and subtraction. :-)

WOW - Thanks for your generosity!!!

I'm on the ATKINS diet - TONS of meat and cheese and eggs - YEAH!!!!

[and the Math problem was "tricksy" - needed some people to write software to convince themselves. That's impressive!!]

Be relieved I'm not within travelling distance. That Simpsons episode with the all you can eat restaurant springs to mind  ;)

So far there's four of us. Jay - can you make it? Anyone bringing significant others and/or children? I plan to get there a few minutes early, so I can get our name in for a table. Just need to have a better feeling for numbers.
