Morrowind questions

It would be nice for all of us Morrowind posters to have a little thread just to talk about Morrowind. I apologize if Iv'e spammed a few topics about the subject. For starters, I would like to start out with a helpful hint for beginners quoted from Irrysa and Murrin (I hope they don't mind) .

After all the Morrowind talk, I decided to start playing it again (PC version - got it cheap ages ago). Previously I'd gotten bored before I even left Seyda Neen. Now, I've done quite a bit, but I'm finding that I'm getting a little stuck - I keep getting killed. What's the best way to build up your stats quickly (it's far too much effort finding more stuff to steal and then having to find someone that will buy it, then finding someone who'll train the right skills (I currently have 2 items that none of the shop folks I've met have enough money to buy from me)).

For selling those expensive items (for instance, you'll probably never find someone with enough money to buy glass armor from you), go to someone in (one of) your faction(s) who sells the same sort of thing...they'll give you a good price to start out, and you can make up for what they can't afford by buying other stuff from them, and then selling it back to them when they have money again.

Also, rats are good for practicing your sword/knife/spear/etc. fighting, and racers make excellent practice targets for ranged weapons. For practicing magical skills you're not very good at, buy a cheap spell and just use it over and over and over...for increasing my destruction skill (which is now at 62), I bought the fleabite spell.

Oh, and if you need a place to stay and put down stuff that you don't need to carry around all the time, you can use the house of someone you've killed. (I did that in Balmora...the place on the corner next to the Blades leader's house) Oh, and I dunno if it's the same for the other Houses, but if you get high enough in House Telvanni, they build you a stronghold *grin* it's awesome.

Covenant Jr.~That sucks dude. You can probably buy a used xbox at a gamestore. I have an original box, and it works like a charm still.

L. Fairy~The best place to steal stuff is right when your starting a chracter, in the excise/census office, because they don't start punishing you till after your handed your orders for Caius. There is a limeware platter on a shelf next to the man that get's you started with your sign and paperwork. Pick it up, then immediatley drop it out of your inventory screen. Wait to be chastised then pick it back up off the floor, and it's all you. It's worth 650.

Then in the next building you'll go into, there will be a key on the shelf next to the guard. SAVE, and do what you did with the limware platter. That key is for the census office warehouse. You'll find some goodies to sell in there . That should start you out with enough money in your pockets. Oh, and you'll also find some skooma and moon sugar. No one will sell to you if you have those, but Arille in Balmora will give you moolah for those. Hope I could help. .

I loved Morrowind. Played it solidly for a month, almost all day or night. Then it just died on me. I know it is one of the best rpgs ever made, but some of the flaws really stood out. Like entering a town at 1am and finding the armoury still open. Or being told to go to Seyda-Neen or someplace else and it's a 5 minute walk away - so much for sense of scale. However, the story was great, graphics amazing and immersiveness on par to none.

Ha ha. I hold all the power in this topic. I have in my posesion the COMPLETE stratiy guide to Morrowind. For starters, if you have expencive items to sell there is only one merchant in the entire game with deep enough pockets to help you. It is the talking mudcrab, directly north of Bal Fell and east of Ald Sotha. The way I always go is by leaving from the Vivic docks or the the silt strider port and going straight east. Once you hit Mzahnh you are on the right track. Go to the south-eastern most point of the island and look for a smaller island really close with a bunch of rocks forming a wall on one side. There should be a mudcrab there. He has 10000 gold but do not kill him under any curcumstances. Sell him a bunch of things that are like 2000 gold and somewhere around that to start things off. Then if you have a bunch of things that are well over 10000 gold you can even it off by buying things back from him. Don't worry when he runs out of money, his money stash replenishes its self every 24 hours. An easy way to get over 400000 gold very easily. And for good measure buy "recall" and "mark" spells from somebody (check the mages guild).

Okay, this is a stupid question coming from someone who's been playing the PC game for a few months now...but is it possible to delete spells on the PC version? I know it's possible on the X-Box, but I seem to be too blind to find such a function on the PC.

Morrowind was a great game, but yeah Loremaster, it just died on me too... one day it was interesting and the next it wasn't. I got so sick of the townspeople that I decided I was through with civilization and just took off into the mountains. I found this tomb there, went to the basement, and some crazy that sounded like Sean Connery came after me. After a few save/loads I was able to beat him, and all of a sudden I 'destroyed the fabric of time' or something and they told me the game was now unbeatable.

I mean, I like sean connery and all, but please...

I'm still enjoying hte game, though I play it less, now...partly because my brother's been monopolizing it, and partly because it isn't quite as exciting as it was before.

Here's a question for you long-time PC gamers...do you know where I could download the add-in that makes you able to do things like set books upright in the game? I don't know why, but not being able to do that bothers me *grin* I'm trying to collect all the Sermons of Vivec books (I was bored when I decided to do this...), and they're starting to look really stupid just stacked on top of eachother.

so many high-profile sequels...though I never really got into Morrowind, so this would be one instance in which I'm able to save my money...

Don't hold your breth, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (unbeknownst to some people it is not Morrowind 2) isn't going to be out untill the new X-BOX (known as Square Box to some) is out. So you will have to wait till 2006 or later to play it. Can't wait myself, you can get a horse.

Thanks for the info, obviously it is elder scrolls iv and not morrowind 2... What was elder scrolls 2, was that Daggerfall? and the first one was theif or something? Or is that a different series?
