Weather Control

Post by Queeaqueg Darkmoon »

Do you know what would be really cool, to be able to control the weather. you would be able to make rain, wind and all the other weather stuff :D
We are the invisible hand which holds the world. We strike with the power of a sword but with the agile and stealth of a snake.

I very much doubt it... unless we build and power machines hundred or perhaps thousands of miles wide.

We already do this to a lesser degree. Moscow recently seeded clouds so that it would rain and expel the moisture of a cloud mass before it reached the festival they had planned. USA has attempted seeding clouds to cause rain over forest fires.

We also do it accidentally. Jet trails are water vapor, it isn't smoke. Jet trails through cloud formations has been proven to be a seed for rain in some circumstances.

There has been talk of dealing with hurricanes, especially after the bad season the USA had recently. By using super-absorbant spheres, we could soak up cloud moisture and weigh down the ocean underneath. Of course, the problem is simply the scale of such an endeveor and the amount of planes needed at the same time would become an air-traffic nightmare. Still, the point is that we are actively considering such ideas.

It is possible that in the future we could use laser grids which storms would pass through and the moisture would be incinerated and the clouds broken up. Perhaps we could abort tornados with microwave guns. Technology will never stop until the world ends, so the potential is ever increasing.

Interesting thread.
