Good point, I thought he was awfully complimentary of her as well. However, she did have her health sense when Liand was around, and never detected any wrong in him that I can remember.egussow wrote:Maybe I'm just being cynical but Liand just seems a little too nice. Will Liand and Linden get together?

True, but whenever Anele was posessed, she was capable of telling when the Despiser was fully there, still lurking in the shadows, or gone. That would lead one to think that she could sense the same in Liand.CovenantJr wrote:But Kevin and friends had health sense when Foul was on the Council...
From a different angle, Liand's motives to join with her do seem a bit too altruistic, and that gives cause for pause.
However, wouldn't anyone subjected to the rigid lives and "disinformation" that the Masters have imposed on them, as well as Kevin's Dirt, be so moved upon tasting Earthpower that they would want to join up with someone who seeks to rid The Land of Kevin's Dirt (minimally)? That does make perfect sense.

Perhaps. I remember from the First Chronicles that no-one in the Land could "see" Covenant..."you are closed to us" etc, because he wielded wild magic. He surpassed them. Presumably the same is true of Foul, but on the other hand, Foul doesn't surpass Linden's power. They're on a more even footing. Still, I wouldn't put it past Foul to be able to hide himself, and allow Linden to detect his prescence in Anele.burgs66 wrote:True, but whenever Anele was posessed, she was capable of telling when the Despiser was fully there, still lurking in the shadows, or gone. We're not really sure of the full extent of Foul's power yet, are we? We know that there's been plenty of time for him to grow stronger, but has he? He was soundly defeated last time around.CovenantJr wrote:Perhaps. No, Linden and Liand are not going to "get together." Not like that. About the same chance (and sentiment behind) Foamfollower and Covenant becoming gay lovers.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
