Ahman Green, greatest back or greatest fluke of all time?

Post by Baradakas »

I think Ahman is the greatest back of all time, although his confidence has been a bit shaken lately with all these turnovers and fumbles, yet he still remains the best to me. What do you think? Hero or Zero?

Ahman is a hero, but needs to hold onto the piggy better. Green is among the elite in the game right now...but EVER? As a die-hard WI packer fan...not even I could say that.

Ahman is an excellent back but, IMHO, he's got a long way to go before we can even begin to have a conversation about him being the best back of all time. That conversation is reserved for names like Brown, Sanders, Smith, Payton, Sayers etc...
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Not the best ever, but certainly in the very good category. I think he'll fumble less in the future; Green Bay is just going through one of those times. Last time they started this way I think they still won 9 or 10 games.

Green is a very impressive back but I think the competition for Greatest Back is populated with candidates that are incontestably "Great". Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Barry Sanders and so on. If Green continues to perform at a high level and manages to extend his career I imagine he will be thought of among the great.

I think Ron Dayne is the biggest bust at RB in a long time, though Ricky Williams is a complete bust at life.

Ahman Green defintely ahs alot of talent and is a uper echelon bak in hsi career but in history, no chance:) My list would look something like this:

1. Barry Sanders
2. Jim Brown
3. Walter Payton
4. Emmit Smith
5. Eric Dickerson
6. OJ Simpson
7. Tony Dorsett
8. Marshal Faulk
9. Earl Campbell
10. Thurman Thomas
11. Curtis Martin
12. Jerome Bettis
13. Franco Harris
14. Gale Sayers
15. Terrell Davis
15b. Marcus Aleen

A couple of players I thought were always underated were Curt Warner, Neal Anderson, James Brooks and Roger Craig.

In terms of who the best I ever saw when he was healthy, no question, no one had a better speed/size ratio and dominated like Bo Jackson, probably the most incredible athlete I have ever seen step on a football field.

Not best of all-time... no...

That and I'm from Minnesota... I might just be a little biased.

But yeah, Payton.

Green is a good back - probably about 20th all-time, but I think that without Favre spreading the D for him, he is only an 1100/6 kind of back.
