Fire Lions?

Post by Aleksandr »

As I reread parts of Runes now I am noticing things that are mentioned briefly without follow-up which may prove significant later on. For example:
Spoiler
In their initial confrontation Stave mentions to Linden that "Creatures of Earthpower now rage on the slopes of Mt. Thunder".
The fire lions maybe? And if so, I wonder if they have relationship to the skurj?

Hmmmm! Isn't that interesting? I didn't even think about the fire lions. That's it -- I'm just gonna have to re-read Runes. (A woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do....)

That was my first thought too.

Skurj

Post by brinn18 »

it makes me wonder of the origin of the skurj. if they are in someway tied in with the fire lions, maybe they were something else to begin with, some kind of eathpower like the fire lions, and changed(which is why they had to be locked away by the appointed)

I also kind of wonder why the haruchai haven't (or I guess if they have) tried to assail the fire beasts, whatever their origin. I mean, they're ALL about going after the crazy, helpless old man, because he is a being of earthpower... what about the giant burning creatures of earthpower?

No, not at all, I was really just kind of curious. It seems like something they would have done.

Maybe they have but we don't know about it yet. But if the Fire Lions are staying put on the slopes of Mt Thunder they would not be threat to the Land and so would not be a major issue for the Haurchai. Also, they may be beings "of" Earthpower, but they are not beings who use Earthpower and it is the latter that the Haruchai deem dangerous.

Ah, I see... I see, that wouldn't really go along with their protection of the land thing at all. Thanks
